The Office 1/19

It might be you ;). I think the show’s humor is still of the awkward type (last night’s episode with Jim’s uncomfortablness with Michael is a good example), but not as dialed up as the British version. I prefer mild uncomfortableness and some good dry humor, personally :).

My favorite exchange:

Pam: How many kinds of sniffles are there?
Dwight: Three
Pam: It was the second kind
Dwight: See? That wasn’t so hard.
Dwight is such a fantastic character.

IIRC, his name was Gil.

NBC has announced they’re picking up The Office for a third season next year. I can’t find a story online about this, but cast members from the show who have blogs on MySpace are talking about it.

Pam

Kevin

I think you might have to register to view them though.

Didn’t know that. I thought they were closely mirroring the plots of all the UK eps, just with different dialogue.

Are those blogs really from the actual cast members? They look like they’re written in character but anyone could be doing them.

Actually, several of them have a MySpace it seems, and in character (at least partly)! That’s so awesome! They talk about getting renewed, but are they in character talking about their “documentary” getting renewed, or their comedy show? :stuck_out_tongue:

Pam and the ones listed as Pam’s friends (in her Top 8) are definitely done by the actors playing the characters. In fact, somebody dug up a screencap from the show where Ryan the temp (B.J. Novak, who is also a writer on the show) has his MySpace page open on his computer. “Pam” (Jenna Fischer) doesn’t really try to write in character much anymore, and also has a weekly blog on TVGuide.com. Kevin still holds up the pretense pf writing in character, which is also fun.

Only the first episode was a slavish remake. Most of the rest of the first season paralleled UK episodes, but with significant rewriting. From then on, we’ve been in new territorry. There were only 12 original UK episodes, after all. Plus the Christmas specials.
