The Office 12/4 "The Surplus" (spoilers)

It looked like he was pouring it into Diet Coke to me.

A can of diet Wegman’s (regional rocery store chain) diet cola to be specific, but pepperlandgirl’s right.

The Office is great about getting local props and references on.

It was a Wegmans soda. The Wegmans pop/soda’s are in many episodes.
I work at Wegmans, I don’t understand why it must infiltrate every aspect of my life.
I can’t escape it.

Edit: Sorry, I didn’t read down to see if it was already answered.

I face the direction of Wegmans when I pray. Wegmans rules.

Say a prayer my way next time you do so. Haha.
It’s not bad to work there, but it is work. It’s a great place to shop.

Wow, can’t believe that no one’s mentioned the best line yet:

Oscar: “Michael, what’s 15% of 4,300?”
Michael (instantly): “645 dollars.”
Kevin: “Michael’s a genius!”

Heh. I found this to be the funniest episode of a lackluster season so far. I caught my self laughing outloud many times. Like you say, to each his own.

I have lost EIGHT deposits and seen Angela naked ZERO times. I’m not losing another deposit.

My point exactly.

It’s lines like these that have made Andy my favorite character this season.

And the continuous shot of Michael walking through the office with everyone sucking up to him (except for Toby) was great.

Michael had an off week. Litigation value: zero.

Andy had some line about a “threesome” at the planning table. I just cracked up on that one.

Anybody help me remember that?

This was a great line and I like that Andy is getting fed up with Angela.

I was expecting Jim would surprise Pam by buying her a new chair himself. That would have been lame and the actual episode’s resolution was much better.

I vote for funny episode and it needed to be after last week’s stinker.

It was my guess that he stole somebody’s diet soda, but doesn’t like diet soda so he poured sugar in it. And from the looks of the way he did it, he does this regularly.

Oh, yeah. Oscar’s one of the competents working there.

Suddenly, after this episode, I can imagine Pam getting freaky and BDSM with me.

I mean, with Jim. That’s what I meant.

Wasn’t it “Let’s three-way this”? [in reference to the discussion, which up to that point had just been Angela bickering with Dwight]

I agree that I’m really enjoying Andy’s character this season as it’s filled out a bit.

I love Wegmans. If you work there, I love you. It’s part of the deal when you’re a member of the cult of Wegmans.

Count me as a fan of the episode. When I heard the set-up, that Michael had to spend $4,300 by the end of the day, I was sure that it was going to turn into another of those totally over-the-top episodes where Michael come up with some hare-brained idea that, in the real world, would get him fired and expose the company to huge liability. Instead, it stayed kind of realistic, albeit exaggerated.

When I heard him on the phone with David Wallace, I almost screamed, “You idiot! You don’t tell the boss you have a surplus. That negates the effect of spending it - he’ll know it was there anyway.” The bonus was an interesting twist.

I’m a big fan of post-New York, more self-assured Pam. She used to be cute as hell. Now, she’s smoking hot.

Agreed, Creed had the line of the night. I also love that every time we get a shot of Creed’s desk he’s got a solitaire game running. I’m waiting for the day they put something else on his computer, just to see who’s paying attention to the backgrounds. SDMB, maybe?

In an earlier season, Ryan set up a Word document that Creed believes is an online blog; I’d like to see Creed writing in it sometime, partly just to see how he types. I’d guess two-finger, and hitting the keyboard really hard. (I still hit the keyboard hard, over thirty years after learning to type on an old Royal manual.)

The scene where Michael phones David and asks him to make the decision “so I won’t be the bad guy”, I wondered momentarily (not for the first time) how David can possibly keep Michael on as a manager. Then again, I can believe in the home office just not caring, as long as the numbers coming out of Scranton are still good.
