Yeah she’s the one who spilled the beans to Pam about the baby rumor by saying “You know, a child born out of wedlock is still a bastard.” Classic

I thought she said, “A child *conceived *out of wedlock is still a bastard.” The implication being, even if Jim and Pam get married before the baby is born, the kid is still a bastard. One of the bitchier comments she’s ever, and that’s saying something. I was kind of hoping Pam would punch her for it.
Sure they do. And that’s what he has. It’s PT Cruisers that they don’t make anymore.
And my theory is that they caught Meredith spraying either Lysol or a can of air freshener into her pits.
Totally agreed, except for Stanley acting completely out of character (as well as this twist undermining his likability.) Still, great episode.

Aside from being downright mean, as far as I know this is not and never has been true in any legal sense. As long as the parents are married before the child is born, the child is legitimate. This was true under English common law even in the Middle Ages, when illegitimacy was a much bigger deal than it is now. Under modern law, if the biological parents marry after the birth of the child then the child can usually be made legally legitimate. I just looked up the Pennsylvania Code online and found that Pam and Jim would be able to have their child’s birth certificate changed to indicate his/her legitimacy if they got married after the kid was born.
But the Office isn’t a cartoon, what sort of malfeasance is this?

I thought that Meredith was putting glass cleaner on her underarms; it had that light blue look and the same kind of bottle as generic glass cleaner that’s used in offices.
Also, I just read on imdb that the female intern was in a season 4 deleted scene in which she was applying for the internship. I don’t have the DVD, but if someone feels like verifying that, I think that would be pretty cool that they set that up like that.
It actually was quite a brilliant idea. The only problem was to make so many weird rumors so quickly that everyone got suspicious and asked who they originated with.
He would have pulled if off if he hadn’t said that one of the rumors was true.
