The Office--hour episode starts at 8 PM EST

After my screw-up on The Wire, I rewatched the scene with Michael on the phone to make sure sure sure… no name was mentioned.

He said: Yeah, yes, I just wanted to see if you wanted to come to Jamaic with me. There’s this resort called Sandals. Really? Ok? All right! I promise you won’t be disappointed. It’s all inclusive…<big smile>

Other good moments: Oscar walking in with his partner, saying, “Too soon…” and immediately walking out.

Jim saw Pam hugging Roy and looked away ruefully, believing nothing had changed.

Bunkie, this Possum, do you copy? Copy Possum, what’s your 20?

I think Michael invited his mother to Sandals.

They were definitely different girls. I thought it was supposed to suggest that they’d been rejected by the first two they invited. I even said to my boyfriend while we were watching, "I wonder how many different waitresses they had to ask?

Also, there’s no question in my mind that Michael asked Jan to go to “Sandals, Jamaica” with him. The surprised, “Really?” gave it away, fo sho.

I really want Jim and Pam to get together, but I was annoyed by Jim’s self-referential rebound speech. It seemed way too obvious. I appreciate the typically subtle development of that plot.

I don’t know if anyone has mentioned this in other episode threads (because I don’t read them every time), but is anyone else getting sick of Jim’s looks to the camera? They were funny (because infrequent) the first two seasons, but I feel like we get one every other scene nowadays. I’m going to try to count them next episode…

Because they don’t let you drink at work or because they know you’re supposed to use tequilla?
We have vodka!! Lot’s of it!

I’m pretty sure the waitresses were the same ones. They called the one girl Cyndi from beginning to end (well, at least Ed did - Michael obviously had no idea). I think she just let her hair down.

Yeah, we were confused by the waitress’s appearance, but finally chalked it up to her hair being down. With some people that makes them look very different.

I think I definitely qualify as a hard-core fan of this show. When Angela called for green streamers, I said, “I thought green was whorish?!” a second before Phyllis did.

I also suspect Michael asked his mom to Sandals. Though Jan has been bipolar enough about him to actually say yes in a moment of insanity.

The waitresses who came to the party were not the same ones in the restaurant. There were different ones listed in the credits.

I didn’t think the waitresses were the same either. I figured it was just the writers try to screw with us.

Yeah, they were definitely different. We rewound to make sure. What’s funny is that I’m pretty sure that the pair of waitresses we see accompanying Michael and Andy into the office just before the commercial break are played by different actresses not only from the ones who were in the restaurant, but from the ones who interacted with them for the rest of the episode. The one on Michael’s arm just before the c-break, in particular, looks strikingly different from any shot of any other waitress we see. But that might just be me.

Another thought re the different waitresses is that they may have made it more obvious during filming and then it got cut. They’ve been showing a different deleted scene every day on the website.

Today’s outtake was Ryan presenting Kelli with a Christmas gift. She’s all pissy because he broke up with her but in the end she can’t help but return to fawning all over him when he tries to leave.

Didn’t someone sing something by Styx? I immediately thought of Diogenes watching after the white-hot hate he showed for Chris Daughtry singing Styx on American Idol last year!

I believe that Dwight sang Lady (to Angela).

I’ve been watching the third season on and off. When did Ryan and Kelly break up? I know Ryan tried in the episode where they thought the office would close, but it didn’t look like it took.

They haven’t broken up. Ryan probably thinking getting some is better than getting none, but he despises Kelly still.

I think the clips NBC is showing for the 1/4/07 episode gives it away … but they could be trying to fool us.
