The Official Inauguration-Watching Thread

he said at the al smith dinner that the grey was due to hillary.

I’m almost twenty-nine and I’ve never seen the American electoral system work before this.

Damn right it was sponsored by the American voter. Starbucks just keeps us awake.

Fucking awesome.

I think the Presidents often dye their hair along the way if they are on the younger side.

Fox News also says that there aren’t any quotes at all that jump out as being “memorable”. They’re underlining Conservative values that could be seen in the speech, saying that the speech was a call to traditional values.

Did we hear the same speech?

It was nice to see Barack being (imho) significantly more aggressive and firm in his presidential address.

No time. I’m only half-kidding.

I had a “Bush’s Last Day” counter on my iGoogle home page. It’s now at -47 minutes.

Wolf Blitzer just said “Justice Roberts had one job to do today and he screwed it up.”

Just dropping in to say ‘Let Freedom Ring’ - and thanks to all you dopers who endured month after month of Great Debates debating every last nitpicky phrase. To all you who believed and wanted Obama to win - thank you.

p.s. Love the human moment during the oath.

Faux news at it’s very best no doubt.

You’re welcome.

Godbye, W. Don’t let the door hit you in the ass on the way out.

Just for men gel! only five minutes!

It’s almost 5am here in Australia and I seriously have to go back to bed now.

This was awesome.

Thanks America. Happy Obama Administration!
PS: Cheney looks like Dr. Strangelove…

Also, the pastor at the beginning said something about this being the forty-fourth occasion of a “peaceful transfer of power”. Unfortunately, in a certain sense that’s not quite the case.

I had chills and tears from the minute Biden took the stage. What, WHAT a day! Wow, just wow!

Stay classy, Minnesota.
Acid Lamp: Like that wouldn’t get dissected on the news and gossip columns.

I’m honestly surprised at the focus on George Bush on Fox News. I mean, he just stopped being the president of our country for 8 years, but this isn’t really his day.

Reverend Lowery’s benediction began, for those who didn’t recognize it, with the last stanza of “Lift Every Voice and Sing” which is counted as the (unofficial, obviously) black national anthem. Powerful song. (Google the lyrics.) He and Rt. Rev. Robinson schooled that Warren chump on how to deliver a public prayer, that’s for certain. It left this brown-skinned Jewish girl moved to tears at the start and laughing by the end, and that’s a good way to kick things off.

I’ve had a private fear for the last…well, 4 years, that the Bush administration would not willingly turn over the White House, or at least not to someone specifically chosen as a successor. Even after Election Day I held some concern over that. I’m very glad to say that I was completely wrong and my fears silly and unfounded.
