The oldest jingle you have in your memory

The US Marines song, from when I was 3 or 4 and thought they were singing about the “United States Maries” and wanted my mom to explain what they were.

Mid 50’s; how school kiddies learned to spell Connecticut. A jingle on the Ranger Andy show and others. It had a lilt to it as you called out the letters.

C-O-N-N
E-C-T
I-C-U-T Fresh Milk

Brought to you by the Connecticut Dairy Cartel

Link to the show and Yes, I was part of the audience once. Most cub scout troops and 4-H clubs were on it. ranger andy show - Google Search

Not sure they were the earliest, but certainly the most “ingrained”. They used these songs for years and years and years.

That was akin to blasphemous in our house, we not only had to know the words and the tune, we also had to march around the living room for guests.
Sad, but true.

ETA I can salute properly too. Semper fi.

Aha, but how many verses did you know? :dubious:

There are three.

From the land of sky-blue wa-a-ters
wa-a-ters
From the land of pines, lofty balsams,
Comes the beer refreshing,
Hamms, the beer refreshing,
Hamms!

How are you fixed for blades? Better look!
Gillette Blue Blades, we mean!
(sung by a bass, alternating C and the G below it, accompanied by tympani in unison with the bass)
Mo-hawk four, four one hun-dred
C.E.T. for tel-e-vis-ion

Dude.

I was something of an oddball in third grade because I knew (and was called upon to sing) all three. I also knew all four verses of “The Star-Spangled Banner” and “America the Beautiful.”

Fun Fact: The lyrics and melodies of “The Marines’ Hymn,” “British Grenadiers,” and “Wabash Cannonball” are mutually interchangeable.

Go ahead and try it. You can sing any set of the lyrics to any one of the three melodies!

DUN dun dun dun DUN dun dun dun
From the land of sky blue waters …

I loved this commercial as a small kid. Hamms Beer probably late 50’s?

It comes from the water,
the perfect brewing water,
that’s the start, that’s the heart of the beer,
so give a little whistle (TUH-WHEET!)
call for Grain Belt, the perfect beer!
Perfect beer, diamond clear,
Grain Belt beer!

'50s and '60s. Then they went to

"I’ve had beer in Bermuda,
I’ve had beer up in Nome,
I’ve licked the foam off my nose in Rome,
and in my galley at home.
In Mandalay and Uruguay,
and other distant lands,
but a beer is a beer, is a beer, is a beer,
until you’ve tasted Hamm’s"*

*“Bermuda” I’m not too sure of, and I can’t find these lyrics on line. :frowning:

Hamms sure did alot of advertising, it seems. I can’t say I have ever seen a Hamms beer. I know I’ve never heard the ads. I remember, ‘Budweiser, the king of beers’. And ‘Head for the mountains, the mountains of Busch’

Not the oldest but still one of my favorites:

Hit it Al!
Ooey gooey rich and chewy inside!
Tender flaky golden cakey outside!
Put the inside in the outside and it’s good (darn tootin’!)
It’s the big Fig Newton (here comes the tricky part)
It’s the big Fig Newton! (ok one more time)
It’s the big Fig Newton!

That’s from memory so apologies for any mistakes.

There are apparently several versions of “A Beer Is a Beer” that I don’t remember (at least one is on YouTube), but you can find them by Googling.

Speaking of beer ads, didnt Busch beer have an ad, or was it a trademark for most of their ads, in which the slow-motion popping open of a can of Busch was in-sync with a baritone voice-over saying “Buuuuuusssssccch!” In order to make an over the topic mimicing sound of the can of beer opening? Ring any bells? Bueller?

I’m a pear tree! I’m an apple tree!
And we all live together very happily!
In the rich, rich valley of Ceres.
'cos Ceres trees are the fruitiest
and Ceres fruits are the juiciest…tum te tum te tumm…

I do not remember seeing this commercial but I sure do remember mi abuela(!) singing, “N E S T L E S
What comes out your A S S
Chocolaaaatttteeeeeeee!”

She also sang a bastardization of Cielito Lindo. My grandmother was a hoot.

I’ve had beer from a pitcher
And from a German mug
I’ve filled up a paper cup and poured it from a jug
I’ve had beer here and had beer there,
But that’s beer over the dam
cuz a beer is…

“Nestle’s makes the very best cho-colate.”
“Plop, plop, fizz, fizz, oh what a relief it is.”

These two are before my time. My parents used to sing them.
