You know, that one book that you read and re-read like a dozen times as a kid? The one that you still recall fondly years (decades) later? What one book would you want to give your own child to turn him on to reading?
My favorite book as a child (not my favorite book of all time, anymore, alas - but that is for another thread) is Where the Red Fern Grows (Wilson Rawls). I read it again for the first time in 20 years over the New Year break, and still got lumps in my throat.
