TIL a hack to supposedly shrink your search on OkC to smaller than 25 miles. After doing a normal search of 25 miles, look at the URL and change filter 3 where it says 25 to 10 or whatever you want and press enter/return (don’t press the search button again!) Viola!

Has anyone else had luck on other dating websites? I’m kinda burned out on OKCupid, Craigslist is like shooting guns on LSD, and I’m too cheap for match.com when I couldn’t even find anyone suitable in my area. I guess I can try my luck on plentyoffish again.

And my new home is under 100,000. That makes it quite challenging; on both Match.com and OkCupid, there might be 10 decent active WSM profiles in that sweet spot outside of AARP, Chris Hansen, kountry/redneck/“too young to be a grandmother” or “more than a few extra pounds” territory. I’m reluctant to go below 35 for fear of appearing like a middle-aged letch, or above 49 or 50, a point where most women really start to look much older than me.
There’s a lot of women writing to me from more distant cities; a 60 minute drive or more. I wonder why they aren’t finding men in their far more populated towns. I also got contacted by a hardcore furry; all of her profile photos showed her in full-blown cat regalia at anthrocons. No. I draw the line at yiffing.

- Female.
- 35-49.
- College-educated. (Not too hard to find in this town.)
- Thin/athletic/average/maybe a little “soft” but not a “few extra pounds” build.
- Not too religious, nor too woo/new-agey. (Very common here.)
- Vegan/vegetarian is okay, but not militant. (Again, very common here. I’ve had two professional vegans contact me. Yes, they had full-time jobs in vegan advocacy of some sort.)
- Two children max, and not a grandmother.
- Not “kountry”.
