Actually, I was forced to talk at great length with many of these kind of people at the RibFest this weekend.
I only attract nerds. Ubernerds, nerds in black t-shirts, nerds with cars, nerds in suburbia…
sigh All the men I loved, ignored me.
I commend you for not taking thier offers, because most girls I know seem to love older guys, grrrrr! Damn father complexes they have! Oh and you’re from Manchester too, does that seem to be something related to our area or is it just normal for girls to be like that?

I seriously doubt that these guys actually expect you to respond. They simply have nothing to lose by taking a shot at you. They get a little amusement and get to pretend for a moment that they aren’t repulsive losers.
I figure it’s sort of a “salvage what dregs of self-esteem I can, from the wreckage of my sad and pathetic life” kind of thing. 
I have impossibly high standards and there’s no way I expect to meet them. I am freed from the dating stressor! All kneel before me, or taste the savage wrath of whatever my name is!
Well, Vlad, I wish I could be sure you were right, but anytime I’ve attempted to be polite in response to their attention it usually results in me being propositioned in strange and unusual ways. One guy decided that he’d wait around for me after work and walk me to my car. It was very creepy, especially since all I’d done to “encourage” this was to smile at him when he said “hi.” Another one started leaving me cards he’d made with poems he wrote in them. He’d commented once that he was a writer and I happened to say that was nice and I like to write, too–all of a sudden we’re soul mates.
Let’s just say I’ve learned my lesson! Alas, this devastating beauty and charm I possess is just my cross to bear! 
I have a similar problem as the OP.
For the last 5-6 years I have worked factory and warehouse jobs exclusively. I am also not much of a socialite and hang out in bars or dance clubs either. So in that period of time I got ZERO dates. Not a one. No nookie either.
Now though I am a full time student and work part time at a grocery store that is part of a large chain. (hy-vee) Now three girls all want me at that store. Obvious enough that even I can see it plain as day. (none of em are subtle) One is obviously a controlling woman, she is about 3 inches taller than me, weighs probably 25-30lbs more than me, and is anti-social to everybody but me. The other smokes a bit too many drugs, has a child (ok, shallow, but still), isn’t entirely physically attractive to me, and is a FREAK! The third girl I am just simply not attracted too. Too sloppy, a compuslive liar and has a hunchback problem and a “let the belly hang out from my untucked shirt” syndrome. (yes, the belly does “hang”.
There are a few cute and intelligent seeming women at my school that I am talking too. If they want me it is beyond my senses. Just the freaky, psycho, or sloppy- I don’t care how I look, types want me.
Been long enough since I have dated, I can wait it out. You aren’t alone though.
