The Orgy Is Over

Christmas morning has come and gone at Casa de Hook. Ms Hook, The Little Hook (age 36), and I took part in riot of unbridled greed before breakfast. Afterwards The Little Hook (age 36) took us to a buffet at a local casino where the after orgy gorging took place. All we need now is a quick trip to the vomitorium.

So, how’d you day go?

As a baker I usually have to get up very early. So I enjoyed not having to get up to the noise of an alarm. Got out of bed about 7:30 and made French toast for breakfast. I served as a chalist at our Christmas Day Sunday service. After getting home I set the dinner rolls to rising, and messed around online. After baking the rolls I went to our family dinner get-together, and ate far too much. Potlucks in my family are kind of like the miracle of the loaves and fished. No matter how much anyone eats, there’s always more than enough to take home. So I packed up some assorted goodies and am now home online.

It was a good time actually. My family gets along really good, and Grandma was able to be there. She just turned 101 a week ago Saturday, and if the weather is lousy she doesn’t go out.

I’m glad to hear you could have your grandmother with you. I always enjoyed having grandparents at the family events, but they are all long gone now.

Well, it’s over here, too, after a week-long festival. No joke, our first family Christmas party was on December 18. The final one was today, except for a few low key visits with elderly extended family coming up over the next week. Once again I have hauled truckloads out of my house only to haul twice that amount back inside. Having three children (and family that dotes on them) makes for some creative storage solutions around here.

One holiday weirdness: We came home this evening about 6pm. Older boys went to their biodad’s for a couple of days, youngest boy crashed out while clutching his dinosaurs, and hubby was paying the price of overeating a myriad of festive party food. Being responsible for entertaining myself, at that point, I decided to straighten up the tissue and ribboned war zone. A little straightening up morphed into separating out the used gift tissue, so I can use it to cushion the ornaments when I pack them away. That turned into sorting through old, broken ornaments in the decor storage boxes, which then wound up with me having the entire Christmas tree taken down and ornaments all packed up. All that’s left is to wrap the tree in bubble wrap before I put it in the garage. Where did Christmas go?

It’ll be back, probably before you’re ready.

Thanks. I’m trying to forget that part.

Call in the trash man pronto!
