The other Cassini

Oleg Cassini’s maternal grandfather, Arthur Cassini, was the czar’s ambassador to the US from 1898 to 1905. His mother’s family claimed Giovanni Cassini as an ancestor. I believe he too was in fashion, maybe a jeweler, something to do with rings…

I have never heard of Oleg Cassini, but he sounds pleasant enough.

Did the czars ambassador die in Bolshevik revolution?

No. According to that link the family left Russia in 1918. The Wiki on Count Cassini says he died in 1919 with no cause given:

Cassini retired in 1909, after having spent 55 years in the service of the Czar. He died in 1919 at age 83

Oh…i am glad…it must have been horrible in Russia at that time…were the Cassini’s royal?

Oh I see now.,by the cite that they were arisocrats
