The Outer Worlds - now THIS is what I was waiting for

I ended up massively overpowered, though. It was fine, but could blast through enemies like crazy by mid-game.

My main complaint about the weapon system was that it was way cheaper to buy a new, higher-level weapon than upgrade an old weapon.

Outer Worlds 2 is coming out next week. I’m pretty interested. Reviews seem to indicate it is good, but not quite the huge evolution some were hoping for.

I have the deluxe-o-matic version, so technically it goes live in just under 18 hours with my early access. But I’m giving it 10 days or so. I don’t want to be a day-0 bug tester. I got the bonus version for the other perks and the two dlc, and plus, I paid with WoW gold.

That said, I did download it today, and was pissed that the downloader said it would play poorly because I don’t have a 2.80 baseline processor. AAA studios wonder why people don’t want to pay $70 for game, while setting the requirements based on systems that probably less than 5% of their marketbase own.

:head_shaking_horizontally:

Excited about this one too. The first game was IMHO much better than Starfield.

I am stunned they think this is a $70 game, and that is the reduced price they went for.

I mean, this isn’t Fallout 5 or Elder Scrolls VI.

“They” the developers probably have no choice, now that it’s a part of Xbox Game Studios. Microsoft is getting desperate… Microsoft executives have been expecting the Xbox division to achieve 30% profit margins—almost double the industry average—since 2023 | PC Gamer

It got a whole lot worse after they bought Actiblizzard. So much for anti trust…

I’ll be playing it because it will be available at no additional cost through Game Pass.

I did enjoy the original quite a bit, and even went back to playing it again in anticipation of the sequel.

Am I happy about the Game Pass going from $20 a month to $30 a month? Hell no. I don’t care that they now have included Ubisoft titles in it. If I was able to play Assassin’s Creed Shadows, I’d be mollified, but no, I’d still need an Ubisoft+ subscription in addition to the Game Pass. All that was added was “Ubisoft Classics”, which means old and outdated Ubisoft crap. Whoopee.

Back to Outer Worlds 2. I do like the idea that the world is bigger, and I find the story more interesting, as now you are “The Commander” with some authority, rather than some random nobody woken from cryogenic sleep and treated like you’re a lunatic if you ever tell anyone who you are. So I’m cautiously optimistic.
