The passing away of Walloon, longtime valuable poster

Wow - his last post was 6-1-10 and he died 6-2-10. Active 'til the very end.

I’m so sorry to hear this. Whena long time poster disappears, you always hope they’ve lived on to other things. It’s sad to learn that this time, it was not the case.

Holy Crap! That’s outrageous! Could be the new honcho doesn’t know that the old honch was given this info and dismissed it.

Gosh, he was a local and I never knew it! Damn.

Yeah, that’s what I was trying to help him on. I’ll have to drop over to Pittsburgh(a 2 hr drive for me) this fall and look in papers for pictures. Probably low probability of success, but… I can also continue my “33” research there on Rolling Rock. I’ll solve that one some day.

I think he was a rather private poster. No email that you could have searched for.

He also was rather cautious to not let on exactly where he was-at least, that’s my memory.

I didn’t notice his absence, but now I will miss him.

We lost a topnotch ignorance fighter in Walloon.

How sad. I just went back to read a few posts; he was an impressive researcher.

:frowning:

may his memory be eternal.

Geez what a bummer. RIP Walloon.

The best researchers are often very private people. No reason, really, except it’s a good calling for someone who’s quiet, careful, and happiest indoors.

Indoors, studious, long, inactive hours at a computer. . . pulmonary embolism???

Nah. I’d have died twenty times already if that was the case.

Aaah my. I always enjoyed and respected going head on head with him. He truly knew his cinema stuff.

After 2 years, I suspect he’s settled in nicely in his revival house in the sky.
