Could be reasonable, had he not followed it up with: “…so if he were assassinated, the Pope would have nobody to blame but himself.” :smack:

So this idiot openly calls for the murder of the Pope, and nobody in the islamic world denounces this? I’m having a hard time understanding muslim “outrage”. Western society allows many freedoms, but muslims seem to think its OK to openly call for the death of somebody they don’t like.
So, now I understand darfur-200,000 -odd muslims starved and killed, and no denuciations from the muslim world!
The more I learn about islam, the less I like it.

I feel the same way. I’m beginning to wonder if Islam and Western Civilization can co-exist after all.
I’ve known that they can’t for a long while.
But that’s just me.
It’s been questionable for many thousands of years…well, OK, since about 638 AD. But I have to wonder if it’s really an Islam/West thing or just a human thing. Individually wrapped, humans can be pretty cool. But when you package them in bulk bundles everything goes to hell regardless of where on the planet you make them interact.
I still think the only real solution is for wimmin to stop having sex for 80 years.

I don’t think Benedict could have said anything more foolish than to quote a medieval emperor who clearly hated Islam and its Prophet. No, I haven’t read the rest of his speech, but I can guarantee that very few Muslims got any further than the imflammatory part, either. I have heard that the rest of the speech puts the quote in context, and that he was aiming for harmony. 
How… Why on earth… Aw, forget it. I’m half Presbyterian, so Benedict isn’t even my guy. Maybe I shouldn’t even care, but I’m embarrassed for the man.
