The pre-hijacked/tetched in the head MMP

Not entirely sure. I’m headed down to Hampstead tonight, so that will probably be nice and cold.

I’m looking forward to the battle of wills I’ll be witnessing this weekend. Dad says “Winchester, get off the couch.” Winchester gets off the couch. Dad leaves the room. Mom says “Winchester, c’mere.” Winchester gets back on the couch. Lather, rinse, repeat.

And then there will be poor Winchester’s confusion when he discovers we’re not sleeping in our room. (I’ve never lived in this house, so it’s not actually my room, but it’s the room I always stay in.) My aunt and uncle have dibs on the good guest room, and I think Winchester and I will be relegated to an air bed in the basement. But he’s going to be mighty upset to discover that morning nap can’t be taken in the guest bed. Nor can mid-morning nap or elevensies. Or post-lunch nap. Or mid-afternoon nap, or pre-walkies nap. My Dad thinks it’s absolutely hilarious that the dog will leave a room full of people to go take a nap on a bed somewhere.

I’m at irk, basically just hanging around til I can leave early. I’ve already watched “Guess what DAY IT IS!” a zillion times and am thinking about ordering the official t-shirt. Contemplating what to have for dinner, maybe leftover stuffed green pepper. And frankly, quite happy that my Thanksgiving does not involve my relatives.

TPTB have informed me that I can close down the orifice at noon should I so desire. I feel a strong desire comin’ on!

Apes has been active on facebook and apparently IRL. Amongst other things she has been makin’ quilts for all her kidlets. which I imagine is a thing that would consume lots of one’s time.

Oh and I am goofin’ off a lot today. I think people think nobody’s here which is fine by me because I have had exactly one phone call so far and that was not a drama induced call even.

'Tis cold and very windy out as well. BRRRRR!

I’m kind of dreading “the dinner” tomorrow.

It’s not going to be too many of us and it’s harder to ignore the people I don’t like in a smaller crowd. It will be only 7 of us, 11 will be mia.
Oh well, maybe it will be a bonus holiday/weekend and I’ll have to work lots to get a nice bonus and that can be my excuse to eat and run.
Well, I can always say it’s a bonus weekend even if it isn’t, it’s not like anybody can find out.

The Little Rock Zoo has a new baby penguin.

Word has come down from on-high that we get to leave at 4. Which is earlier than I was going to leave (4:30), but still later than I’d like. Ah, well. I can be on the road by about 4:30, which is earlier than originally expected, so I should shut up.

Did you see or hear any meteors this morning?

The first load of dishes is going through the dishmasher now, in a daylong effort to descumify the kitchen so it’ll be sparkly when I start cooking for tomorrow. Of course, I’ll have to descumify all over again once the [Swedish Chef voice]tohrkey[/Swedish Chef voice] is roasting away.

The ceremonial first spot in the dishmasher went to my irk coffee cup. By tradition, it comes home once a year at T-day to get cleaned, whether it needs it or not. It needed it this year…

First item to make today is cornbread for the turkey stuffing, then VWife’s cranberry abomination.
Swedish Chef vs. turkey.

I am at work seriously wishing I had taken today off to prep for tomorrow. I hope that they give us 59 minutes today. It’s a rarity around here, but I’m hoping they’ll do it.

After work, I need to stop at the store to pick up nosh food for tomorrow; you know, things such as cheese and crackers and such. I’m still trying to decide if I want to do cranberries or not. My husband isn’t a fan, and they’re alright, but meh, I just don’t know. I make some good cranberry stuff, but I don’t know if I feel like messing with it.

I’m also going to prepare the sweet potato casserole tonight. It’s less to deal with tomorrow and it’ll just be easier to have it ready to stuff in the oven tomorrow.

Tomorrow, I shall rise early and start preparing the stuffing and dressing so that will be cool for stuffing the turkey. I figure I’ll need about four to five hours at the most for the actually roasting of the bird (it’s almost 21 pounds).

I just may have two additional people at Thanksgiving tomorrow. I need to confirm that today.

Congrats on being close to graduation, Sticky Buns!

AWWWWWWWWW!!! Little baby penguin is so keeeeeeyoooooote!!!

I know I haven’t said much but twelve people are showin’ up at da cave for TDay. I am doin’ the turkey, gravy, dressin’, and collard greens because well, nobody else would do it right. Others are bringin’ sides, desserts, munchies and assorted beverages. Should be a good time. Oh and I will make tea cause, well, they wouldn’t do that right either. Believe it or not, I’m pretty much prepared. I’ll cook the collards tonight, make up the dressin’, cook up, cool and dice the giblets for the gravy and make tea tonight. Mr. turkey can bake in the mornin’ along with the dressin’ and I’ll heat up the greens (always better made the night before and heated up the next day IMHO). I even have all the plates, glasses, the good flatware (I don’t do silver), servin’ dishes and servin’ utensils all laid out.

What can I say… Bite me Martha Stewart!

ACK! IT’S SNOWING!
IN THE SOUTH!
BUY MILK AND BREAD!

Not even enough to stick when it hits anything, but there is definitely white flaky stuff drifting down from the clouds. Snowpocalypse!

The lengthy process to de-Faire home is underway. Costumes are washed and queued up in the sewing room for a variety of minor mending I want to do now, rather than pull things out of the closet on dress rehearsal day next year and be all “OMG!! How fast can we fix this?!”

No word yet on early dismissal here, but between the impending year-end code freeze and people being out of the office this week, there’s nothing for us to do. It’s times like these when I miss the days of being on salary and the boss saying we could vamoose if our work forthe day was done.

Awwwwwww!

Bobbio, have you seen the Swedish Chef making popcorn shrimp?

It is fookin’ cold outside. I just saw Winnie the Pooh tumbling down the street so it is officially a blustery day.

I gave up and decided to take half a vacation day. Because if’n I have to drive four hours, I’d rather do it in the rain than in the dark and rain.

Can I scream now
Shopping around for prescriptions is soooooo just annoying!!!

Now I found a place where I can get 3 months Plavix for $25 versus $21 to drive downtown - that is a bargain to me, I’d spend more than that in gas and parking. Two other scripts are cheaper there and then the 4th one is sky high. Why can I not get them all at the same place!!! Then some of the sites suggest getting double the dosage and cut them in half because double the dose is the same price as the single dose - but that would mean getting the doctor to write a new script.
So it looks like I will get 3 of them from a mail order place and one at the local drugstore. I know it is a minor thing but damn, it’s just keeping more notes as to what comes from where and what has to be refilled when and I like to keep things simple.

On a good note, I got the approval to refinance my truck which is going to save me quite a bit of money and i can pay it off sooner. This will also allow me to qualify for more of a mortgage so YAY! for that.

**Drae ** I have no idea how you understood what I said because what I wrote was so screwed up I couldn’t read it.

Way to go Sticky for graduating.

Bobbio you cook and clean???!!! that is so sexy in a man

Swampy sorry dude, as sexy as it is well what can I say? You’re Gay!

It won’t be much here tomorrow, I may not even be needed in the kitchen except to peel the potatoes. It’s not a big room and my mothers bf always gets in the way and barks orders at everybody. He thinks he is helping  He always cleans up though. He had a fit when he found out everybody takes home leftovers from dinner, so now he very carefully doles out who gets what and packs it up for them  Then he carries all the stuff he keeps for himself and my mother to the downstairs fridge where it will be forgotten and go bad. Then he will bring it upstairs for the rest of us to eat and get offended when I smell it and say ‘no thank you’.
It’s tradition.

I’m fluent in typo.

Everybody say it with me …

April is busy being a new mom - she’s on facebook a lot.
I has a “it’s yucky out” kind of blurf

Howdy howdy!! We had a pretty good sleep-in followed by breakfast in Leonardtown and a fill-up of the car. When we got home, **FCD **filled the tires (we had a low pressure light) and scooped the cat box and I tidied the kitchen, then messed it up again with pie makin’s. As of right now, 2 punkin pies are cooling, the 2-layer punkin/cream cheese pie is in the fridge setting up, and the caramel-apple crumble pie is baking. My sweetie is in the basement - I think he’s painting.

It rained all night and it’s still raining now. When I let Higgs out at 10 last night, it was mid-50s. Right now, it’s 37°, down from 41° when the dog went out at 6 this morning. All in all, a miserable day. I’m glad we’re in. When the apple pie is done, I’ll head down to my studio to do some glazing. I’m pretty sure I can fire up the kiln on Saturday.

And that’s pretty much my day so far. Oh rats - I need to run a load of knitted stuff before I take it to Mom’s tomorrow, and I need to sort out the ornaments that I’m giving to my sister. I may not get to glazing after all. We shall see…

Congrats, Sticky!!

Drive carefully, Drae!!

Quit being so gay, **swampy **- people are starting to talk!!! :stuck_out_tongue:

Happy Wednesday!

Swampy is teh GAY?!!!

Howdy all and Happy Humping day.

Computer Geek and I went Krogering last night as his daughter needed some Jello Cups and we needed Beer. The panicked madness was kinda fun, there was a lady going up and down the baking aisle, begging “Does anyone know where the corn starch is?”.

Amateurs.

Anyhoo

Mumpers, be safe in your travels, eat well and have a great time. Remember although they annoy the crap out of you it is just for one day, you can drown them in a vat of chilled urine later.

For the non USian Mumpers, stay warm and we shall begin our regular scheduled Mumping next week.

Feliz

Jim

waitaminnit! Swampy is GAY?

it just does NOT get old, y’all.

How you doin’?
