As for as I know, the links are work safe. They go to CNN. The article talks about how the little boy learned of his father’s death, and how he’s coping with it. His parents divorced, but remained amiable. The father remarried, and it was the new wife that got the official word from the Army. She then called the boy’s mother, who had to tell the child.
What do you want? This story, or something like it, has been repeated literally thousands of times since we sent troops into Afghanistan and Iraq.
Thank you for revealing the previously undisclosed fact that the children of soldiers sometimes lose their parents in war. Some of us were pointing out exactly that back in March 2003.
Yeah, I have to say that my reaction to this is, because I’m a father, terrible sadness, but also “What the fuck did you think was going to happen?!” directed at the flag-waving uber-Merkins who supported us going to war in the first place, and who now have an oh-so-patriotic “Support Our Troops” tear in their eye over the lamb they sent off to be killed.
