The 'Put it Back on the Menu, Dammit' thread

Popeye’s can vary alot from my experience. My wife was a big fan of their PoBoy sandwiches, but we can’t find them here. Here, Popeye’s seems to be excessively greasy. It could be a change in perception, but they are no longer a favorite of ours.

Another thing I really miss are the bagel breakfast sandwiches from McDonalds. I find most of the breakfast sandwiches a McDonalds to be unsatisfying, so I have to buy two. With the bagel sandwiches, that was all I needed. Probably that is why they decided they were an economic loss. They were very tasty though.

Ben & Jerry’s Nutcracker Sweet ice cream. A sweet cream base with chocolate covered mixed nuts mixed in. It’s been discontinued for over 10 years and I still miss it.

Again, try a different McD’s. The ones in Visalia (Central CA) didn’t have them, but here in San Fran, they do…

Joe

Oh yeah, along the lines of Ben & Jerry’s, they used to have an apple cobbler ice cream that I loved. Alas, it is now in their graveyard.

ArrMatey!, Joe’s Crab Shack is completely gone around here. The whole menu is off the menu :(.

Cluricaun, Dilly Bars are alive and well here. I have noticed that not all Dairy Queens have the cherry coating for cones or Dilly Bars, which is too bad since it’s my favorite.

They brought it back as a birthday cake a few months ago. I don’t think its normally available on the menu but the cake exists in at least some of the restaurants as a treat for patrons who claim it is their birthday.

Also, I feel I should spread awareness of the Ragin’ Cajun chicken burger from Red Robin - it’s not on the menu, but they still make it if you ask, and everyone seems to know what it is.

Howard Johnsons - from the 60s Corn Toasties Basically a piece of corn bread in the form of a slice of sandwich bread that went in a toaster. Soaked up huge amounts of butter and made a great dessert. They were also the first “restaurant” item I remember being available at grocery stores.

Panera’s Fuji Apple Chicken salad. Gone for weeks, and it seems like years already.

Just got off the phone with the Palatine one - they’re making them right now.

Intersection of Hicks and Northwest Highway in where the Citibank is and the Ace Hardware (and Hobby Lobby).

Add to that “Rainforest Crunch.” My favorite flavor has been gone for like 15 or 16 years. :frowning:

Houlihan’s used to have these crazy good cheese fries - the standard way - cheese and bacon, and we’d get ranch for dipping. Two of my friends and I would order that and some chicken strips and be set. Now Houlihan’s is trying to be classy or something and their food sucks and costs more. They do have gigantic cheap Long Island Ice Tea during happy hour though, only reason I still go there. There are like 2 meals on the menu I’ll eat.

The Ben & Jerry’s talk has reminded me that I haven’t seen Chocolate Mousse Royale at a Baskin-Robins in at least ten years. No ice cream flavor is better than Chocolate Mousse Royale.

I forgot about that flavor. Curses to you for teasing my taste buds by reminding me of what I can’t have!

Here here… I’m soooo disappointed! I can only hope it comes back, I can’t dare to contemplate that it won’t!

About 5 years ago, Papa John’s had a Chicken Alfredo pizza that was excellent. I got a hankering for it a few weeks ago only to find they took it off the menu.

Burger King’s grilled chicken sandwiches used to be good - a big chunk of juicy chicken, lettuce, tomato and mayo. But then they replaced the mayo with something called “King Sauce.” I’d really prefer the mayo over some king jizz, but my cries go unheard. Thankfully, Sonic now has a pretty good chicken sandwich.

And I’d forgotten about the peppermint swirl thing that McD’s used to sell until someone mentioned it. Man, that was tasty.

Ain’t THAT the TRUTH!! A couple of the girls in my office and I went there for a birthday lunch recently - I could hardly find anything to eat.

I miss the salads that Wendy’s used to offer. There was one in particular–it was a grilled chicken salad with low-cal Italian dressing. It came with a breadstick (which, IMHO is what really made it). Everything was separate in the tray, so I could take out the tomatos. It had broccoli. :).

And then, around 2000-ish, they replaced it with a bunch of froo-froo salads. Which’re no longer served with a breadstick. And they dropped the low-cal Italian dressing.

Nowadays, Burger King has a similar salad. . .except the chicken is hot, and requires disassembly prior to use. This is an enormous pain in my ass, 'cause I have to put the chicken in the fridge for an hour or so before having my salad, and then I have to rip the chicken breast apart. Not cool, BK. Not cool.

Oh hell yes, I totally forgot about these. The old Burger King grilled chicken sandwiches were the best fast food chicken sandwich of all time. That chicken was huge!

And Missy? Sometimes I don’t know what I’d do without you.

Arg, when was that? I know I bought some within the last month or so.

They’re still listed on the nutrition information charts at kfc.com Maybe it’s a regional thing. I know they’ve quit offering the honey BBQ wings a few times before.

One item I remember at a lot of taco fast food places that I don’t see anymore are Taco Burgers. Taco meat, lettuce, cheese and sauce on a hamburger bun. I worked at a local taco joint when I was in college, and Taco Burgers by far were the most popular item on the menu. Never see them any more, then again I don’t frequent alot of fast food taco places anymore, either.

My long lost favorite is Hardee’s Hot Ham N Cheese sandwich. I used to get a couple of those with a vanilla shake to dip it in. YUM!
