Cute game idea!

I got Korçë County, a place in Albania that I never heard of and probably wouldn’t pronounce properly if I made the attempt.

Cool, I got a good one.

Walter Burley Griffin, an architect that worked with Frank Lloyd Wright and designed Canberra, Australia.

I’d always wanted to know.

ADC, PWM, comparator, HW multiplier: Electric bits to make the system stable and energy efficient.
Watchdog, internal oscillator: Timing devices
USART: Should be UART, means you can attach a serial cable to it (you use this during development to interact with the device through teleterm.)
LCD driver: Can be attached to an LCD
EEPROM: A chip that you can write a file into and that data remains through a powerup (usually used to hold the initial code that loads the OS and starts it off. An OS is generally too big to fit in most EEPROMS)
In-system programmable via JTAG: JTAG is a thingy that lets you start and stop and modify the state of memory and the CPU via a cable attached to your computer.

Mine was an article about John Psathas, a New Zealand composer.

I do this sometimes when I’m bored. Sometimes it makes me less bored, sometimes more.

This time, I got an article on Tight End, which sounded a lot more interesting than it turned out to be. Apparently it’s a position in American football who blocks for the ball-carrier and catches passes from the ball-carrier, which sounds like an odd combination of duties.

I got one on Michael Moran, whom I would never have known of otherwise.

I got an article on Rene Houseman, Argentinian soccer player who was on the champion ‘78 World Cup team. Fairly short, probably written by someone FROM Argentina for whom English was a second language. Didn’t know Argentina won a World Cup, tho’.

A very short article on the Australian Combat Survival Training School. Their motto is “Adapt and Return” and their seal features a boomarang and a crocodile. I suppose the boomarang stands for “returning” because they’re Australian and they come back to your hand. The crocodile symbolizes adaptation because they haven’t evolved for the last 150 million. Crazy Ozzies…

I drew System 7.

“Several things are called System 7.”

In this case, “several”=5.

And before anyone chimes in with “Band name!!!”, you’re too late.

I got the Brisbane River:

Apparently, it’s in horrible shape, environmentally. That sucks.

Nothing too exciting about mine:

Erik Björnsson

I never knew that goofy Pulp Fiction John Travolta dance had a name! The Batusi. Bonus picture of Adam West as Batman.

I learned that the Nogai Horde was the Tatar horde that controlled the Caucasus Mountain region after the Mongol invasion.

Outtrim railway line, Victoria, Australia

“The Outtrim railway line, was a steam-era regional railway line in Victoria, Australia. Which was also part of the fromer Great Southern Railway (South Gippsland line), branching from the current Pakenham line at Dandenong, extending out into the the South Gippsland region, The Outtrim section of the line was opened in the early 1890’s and branched off the main line just after Korumburra railway station.”

[It seems that this particular line is no longer in service.]

…if you’re a fan of historic railway lines in Australia, this is fascinating stuff. Otherwise, no so much, perhaps.

“The Mob is the self-titled debut album of American rock band The Mob. It was released by Frontiers Records in 2005.”

Never heard of it. I have heard of Kip Winger, the producer. I remember he had a hair metal band in the 80’s-90’s called, appropriately enough, Winger.

A little research indicates that the lead guitarist of The Mob is the same guy who was the lead guitarist of Winger. And that’s the extent of the knowledge I want or need on that subject.

I got http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/397_Vienna, an apparently very ordinary asteroid. Most of the article: “It was discovered by Auguste Charlois on December 19, 1894 in Nice.” I’ll go try again, just for fun.

I got Telecommunications in Uruguay - Wikipedia
Hmmm, well that wasn’t as interesting as I hoped it was going to be.

This one is just too good not to share before hitting the sack…

Robert Klark Graham

I remember his sperm bank.

I got some weird funky ol’ thing about Torchy the Battery Boy, a “series [following the] adventures in Topsy Turvy Land of a boy doll with a lamp in his head, and his master Mr Bumbledrop.”
