Jack Black in High Fidelity is Comic Book Guy.
casting is everything… i too would did not even consider seeing the second flintstones movie based on how awful the first one was although i have been a fan of the cartoon since the stone age. i think they should have cast danny devito as fred and richard dreyfus as barney and they would perhaps have had a much much better movie. i could almost see chris elliot as homer.
Shave Lassie’s hair off and you got Santa’s Little Helper.
Lots of these are from suggestions found here. Our rules were that the actors chosen had to be able to play in the movie if it were cast today.
Homer: Chris Elliott
Marge: Bonnie Bedelia
Bart: Frankie Muniz (Malcolm on ‘Malcolm in the Middle’)
Mr. Burns: Patrick Stewart or Donald Sutherland
Smithers: David Hyde Pierce
Ned Flanders: John C. Reilly (Reed Rothchild in ‘Boogie Nights’) (though I thought William Macy was an excellent choice)
Chief Wiggum: Drew Carey
Principal Skinner: William H. Macy (though my boyfriend liked Tim Robbins) - also, I thought Ben Stein was good, whoever said that
Superintendant Chalmers: John Spencer (Chief of Staff on ‘The West Wing’)
Mayor Quimby: Harvey Keitel…maybe Joe Pesci?
Comic Book Store Guy: Jack Black
Gil: Jack Lemmon
Gun Store Guy: Steve Buscemi
Professor Frink: Jeff Goldblum
Edna Krabappel: Jane Kaczmarek
Moe: Curtis Armstrong (‘Booger’)
Barney: John Goodman
Rev. Lovejoy: Steve Martin
Carl: Wayne from ‘Whose Line is it Anyway’
Ralph: Erik Sullivan (Dewey on ‘Malcolm in the Middle’- man, I love that kid)
Apu: Tony Shalhoub
Otto: I say Pauly Shore, he says Keanu Reeves
Krusty: Billy Crystal
Groundskeeper Willie: Mike Myers
Dr. Hibbert: Bill Cosby or Wayne from Whose Line
Dr. Nick: Hank Azaria
Milhouse: This nerdy kid from Malcolm in the Middle woh made a joke about a corset. Best we could do.
Ship captain: Robin Williams
Other old guy: Paul Newman
Snake: Charlie Sheen
Abe: Jerry Stiller
Kirk Van Houten: Ben Stiller
Mrs. Van Houten: Janeane Garafolo
Sideshow Mel: John Malkovich
sideshow Bob: Kelsey Grammer
Lenny: Ryan Stiles
Cletus: Jeff Foxworthy
Patty and Selma: Katey Sagal
The Bumblebee Guy: Cheech Marin
Disco Stu: I say Daniel Stern, he says John Travolta
McBain: Arnold Schwarzenegger
Jimbo: Reese from ‘Malcolm’
So that leaves Lisa, Nelson, Lionel Hutz, Rod and Todd.
How about Itchy, Scratchy, Troy McClure [You may remember him from such old favorites as “Long Nights in Jersey” and “The Third Picture Show”), Maude Flanders, Snowball, Maggie, Agnus Skinner, Kent Brockman, Moleman, Mayor Quimby, Sherry & Terry and Jebadiah Springfield. There were numerous bit characters also like Princess the horse, Very Tall Man, and Lucius Sweet to name a few.
disco stu - michael richards
mr. burns - john lithgow
i think john goodman reminds me much more of quimby than wiggum.
Louie Anderson as Wiggum!!!
I have a few suggestions. Quimby needs to be played by Martin Sheen. The New England accent is key.
Also, Ron Howard’s brother (you know, the really weird looking guy with the bad teeth) should play Cletus. I would like to see Sam the Eagle from the Muppets to play Kent Brockman. And the principal from the military academy in “Malcolm in the Middle” would be a great Superintendant Chalmers. Or George Castanza’s boss who dubs George “Koko the Monkey”.
I had Quimby in there (Harvey Keitel), but I think Connor’s suggestion of Martin Sheen was excellent! As far as the pets & cartoon characters, I didn’t think it was worth worrying about casting them. Maggie’s a baby, I can’t say I could name a specific baby actress, so we left that alone. But, you’re right, Kent Brockman, Troy McClure, Sherry & Terry, Agnes Skinner, Maude Flanders (even if she IS dead), and Mrs. Hoover (you didn’t mention her) need to be casted. The bit characters - enh.
haha, Charlie Sheen would make a PERFECT Snake!
(slight hi-jack here, sorry. Does anyone remember a very old episode where they sung a song that went something like ‘dr. zayuss, dr. zayuss’? ive had that stuck in my head for about a week but i cant remember who the hell Dr. Zayuss is!)
Where Troy McClure plays Dr. Zaius.
I mean Col Taylor. Thanks, Peter.
