It’s because your name is “Wendell”. That’s a red rag to a bully right there.
A man of Big D’s obvious keen insights and sensitivities might have taken this comment to be intentionally a little sarcastic. In his world, that can mean only one thing: A Jeet Kune Do battle to the death!
I didn’t say I wasn’t sarcastic. I said that I didn’t say or imply that Big D Ron was stupid or a poor writer or untruthful.
I have been away for too long, so this thread, and this post in particular just gave me fits of convulsive laughter. Well done, all.
“..with only a few years in which to store up the experiences which you and I take for granted. If we give them a past, we create a cushion, or a pillow for their emotions…”
If you were the nicest poster yet he picked you to threaten to beat up, doesn’t that say a lot about his mental state?
Agreed. Can we take up a petition to the mods to allow JKD back on to bring the funny some more?
One should think twice before filling one’s canteen from a steady stream of gold.
Not the evil alter ego; I vote for the genius, accomplished author, with nary a prevarication in his posts.

I was likening Creative Loafing’s position to that of say, a newspaper or weblog publisher. For example, while the NYT, WaPo, WSJ and the Drudge Report’s OpEd pieces are protected under the First Amendment, the publishers are not obligated to publish all dissenting opinions from their readers. Or any letters to the Editors, if they so choose. Similarly, posters to the SDMB post under sufferance of CreaLo and have no constituional right(s) protecting their utterances (i.e., posts).
Have I understood your comment correctly and have I clarified my position? Regards, and apologies for the minor hijack. And now, back to the hijnks…![]()
You guys can’t like prove the texas chainsaw massacre isn’t real. Hellhounds, man, hellhounds. Look it up. But don’t use books. I know a sheriff and I AM a master of Jeet Kune Do - I don’t even care if there can be one. I don’t care man.
Threads like this make me appreciate my Dopelife all the more.
Just wanted to say that
…is one of the all-time great SDMB lines.
Isn’t that what William Jennings Bryan said?
By the way, that was the best use of Technique 10 I’ve seen in a long time. The example in the article and the one in this team are virtually identical.
They also managed to work in #5 and a bit of #2 and #9 as well. That article does need a “sheeple” entry though - it gets used enough here.
I think this would make an absolutely wonderful tagline for GQ.
I’m sure it says in the Constitution (sorry, but my brain forbids me to mispell it, I wanted to and tried!) that people who can’t do decent web design and can only make web pages that have designs 10 or more years out of date are not allowed to run anything more important than a book club.
Actually, an early post of Ron’s said he was 22. Which was a shame, from the get-go, I pictured him as an overweight, middle-aged lower class typical Texan (NASCAR wear optional) - while he apparently misrepresented a lot of things, I’m doubting that one somehow. A shame, as it works better my way.
