Goodbye Opal.
up, caffeinated, off to irk.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’. YAWN 'Tis 50 Amurrkin out with a predicted high of 65 and sunny. Tonight the low is supposed to be 38 and after that warmup to the 70s for real. YAY!!!
Apes that was awesome! A really good mornin’ giggle. Be sure and thank the hubs for me.
Baker see, the deal is, you are an actual baker. This particulary bakery I speak of is apparently run by construction workers and cee-mint finishers. Horrible, awful cookies! BTW for y’all that don’t know this, Baker cookies are the most excellent cookies in the world! HEE! An orange shamrock. I sometimes think about showin’ up at the church house in orange for St. Patrick’s just to be contrary. Actually it would be proper bein’ as we are, at least, nominally Protestant.
Spidey OYKW makes an incredible Noo Yawk cheesecake. I shall have to make nice so I can get one soon.
Freebie Fr. Gallagher sounds like my kinda guy!
Fugitive ya gets the nickname ya gets. Or you can change it. That’s how we roll in the MMP.
about Opal.
Everyone else hugs, yays, boos, trouts, chitlins, noogies, how you doin’s as needed.
Now I need more caffiene and rumbly tummy wants to be fed. Then, alas, irk purtification must commence.
Happy Tuesday Y’all!
Wait, WHAT?!?
checks MPSIMS
utters vile profanity
reserves third place on list for Opal
And it’s a rainy morning here - ick. I was awakened by a barking dog shortly after 2 and after an hour anna half, I gave up and took her out. She peed and all was quiet again. I know it was quiet. I lay there listening to the quiet. Dammit. I’s tahred.
How sad about Opal. I met her once, many, many years ago. That makes 2 dopers I’ve met who are gone…
Busy day ahead. Hope I can stay awake for it. Wish I could have stayed in bed… oh well…
Happy Tuesday anyway.
It never clicked with me that Opal’s son Dominic is the same age as my son.
You must be getting the rain that was here all day yesterday, FCM. I’m hearing conflicting weather reports this morning. However, both agree on no rain, so I can bike. I’m so tempted not to schlepp all my work clothes with me since it’s spring break and the place is a ghost town. (I will take some jeans or something so I can change out of my biking tights. I dont care for the “full diaper” look that padded tights bestow on the wearer!)
Dave hated the color green because he went to church and school at St. Patrick’s for many years as a boy. An orange shamrock (or a purple one) would have suited him well.
Hey phouka:
It certainly was sad to hear about Opal. She and I talked a few times via PM. I liked her very much.
Currently making a mini leopard gecko, with a magnet in it- which might explain some of the needle breaking
In other news, it’s snowing  I have no idea what happened to spring… I hope it doesn’t destroy all the blossom that just opened, or I won’t be able to make sloe gin this year, and that would be terrible.
Very sad to hear about Opal
It’s raining pretty hard here, and with a good wind too. Very quiet & comforting. Makes me want to call in but I am slated for a special project shoot…
In DC’s 1st Marijuana dispensary. Cannot claim much interest in the subject matter.
Spent much of the weekend surfing the web. Growing up on the Chesapeake Bay I remember seeing a notation of a plane wreck in the Choptank river not far from where I spent much of my youth. Eventually on late Sunday I found a webpage about the wreck. Short but fascinating.
It is amazing what you can learn about if you dig deep enough. Found another site about old, abandoned airfields organized by state. That one is worth a long surf.
With regards to the op I don’t make cookies. I made a pan of brownies from a box awhile ago. Very tasty but as a lone guy at home, way too many calories. Bad enough I indulged in a lemon meringue pie from the store last week. I think it had 3000 calories in it.
Not good, not good. Well actually very good, but still.
My friend had a saying: ‘‘Nothing good is healthy, and nothing healthy is good.’’
Though I got some very good apples at the market the other week. I should get some more.
– which gives us the corollary to Murphy’s Law: “Everything good in life is either illegal, immoral, or fattening.”
RIP Opal
My only connection to St Patrick’s Day is that I’m a Boston Celtics fan…
**ems **-- don’t pay attention to all the fish puns. It only encourages everybody to do more of them on porpoise… (d&r)
[nose. grindstone. put back]
I’ve finished redesigning a stupidly designed part - now I just need to get it drawn.
Not raining too hard at the moment, but it still looks icky out, and decidedly breezy. I am so ready for spring for real. <sigh>
The cottage cheese I brought for lunch is juuuuuuuust on the cusp of going bad. The remainder of the carton at home will be dumped. All that’s saving lunch is the pile of pineapple tidbits I dumped on top.
Happy Toosday.
It’s a wet, grey, rainy, dreary, yukky 53 degrees outside.
Sah-pup doesn’t look too well today, he’s not interested in treats.
I got one aspirin in him, I don’t know about getting the second one in.
He gets shar-pei fever.
I love my dog but between the allergies, skin infections, eye problems, ear infections and fever I will never get this breed again.
He’s been a very expensive free dog.
Today is laundry day. We got pizza yesterday and will have the leftovers today.
In my world cottage cheese is bad the moment it’s produced.
Shamrock Shakes ---- are there people out there who actually do wait for their yearly appearance? To me they look and taste like Prestone and having worked in a garage I’ve caught a taste of the stuff now and then.
Thanks for all the birthday wishes - it was indeed the 6th. It was also the anniversary of Muvvers passing last year but I’ve come to happy terms with all that so its cool. I disappeared for a couple days because a close friend got sick and then the Old Wench followed up by getting sick. It’s given me a great chance to play nurse. No white fishnets or short uniform dresses but I’ve still had fun with it. (Woke the OW up this AM to give her breakfast by banging on a piepan and chanting “Bring out your dead”.)
Isn’t that “assault and bakery”?
>sigh<
Well, one of my favorite senior techs was fired yesterday, and of course because it’s corporate, no reason is given. So, did he tick someone off? Was he the human sacrifice HR demanded to bring our numbers down? Was there something else? At any rate, I guess I can say my honeymoon period with the new job is over.
And then I learn about Opalcat, and it just breaks my heart. I talked with her a few times, and while she did get het up over stuff I thought was a little silly, she was always kind, always thoughtful. I was astonished at how creative and prolific she was while in the grips of her depression. I know she suffered terribly.
>sigh<
I really don’t want to work today. I just want to go home, take a nap, play with my kitties, and maybe watch a movie with a friend.

I think it’s the same people who dance with glee whenever the McRib resurfaces.
I just mentally pictured you as an Amish nurse zombie. Someone pass the brain bleach, please.
ETA: I like an occasional McRib in season, but I despise shamrock shakes.
We’ve had a few eye opening firins recently, including one guy who was freelancing for a few months, got hired full time then fired 2 weeks later. Turns out he had issues management wasn’t aware of when they gave him the bump up.
In this environment (well any environment really) retaining a job is a scary thing.
You read my mind. Which movie?
