They are called “Non Working members” of the Royal Family.
As I understand it, as part of the agreement they reached to step back from being working Royals, they kept the titles of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex; they still are Royals, but are not allowed to publicly use the “Royal Highness”/HRH styling.
That was the impression I got. Like I said, the story was light on details, but it specifically had to do with HIS status and the upcoming renewal of his resident visa.
I hear there’s some talk that the Duchess has been offered an acting job.
Or to put it another way, sources close to the Sussexes have not denied reports that Meghan has been offered an acting role.
Fair point, I hadn’t picked up on that.
Have “sources” denied that their new home “not far from London” will in fact be a caravan on Canvey Island?
I’m sure they’d take the money and I suspect they do thrive on controversy. But that controversy might very well lead to them not being offered paid appearances.Because it won’t stay quiet for very long.
Not to belabor, she said right before commencing to belabor, as I understand it, the British press thrives on controversy, muck, shame, and scandal, especially where the Royals are concerned, in a way that the American press can barely approach and Americans can barely imagine.
I mean, would the American press have quoted the still-married Charles when he told Camilla that he wished he could be one of her tampons? Yes, that really happened, and he really did say that to her – secretly of course, but the press got a hold of it.
Never underestimate the deeply romantic heart and mind of King Charles.
Speaking of money, how is Sarah Ferguson doing these days? I’m thinking a divorced spouse of an heir to the throne is in about the same legal limbo as a non-active member of the Royal family. Does anybody get bent out of shape about her getting paid for appearances?
Does she get paid for appearances?
I don’t know, that’s why I’m asking.
Even worse, the divorced spouse of a royal who has been stripped of the vast majority of his titles and privileges.
She writes and does some TV. See her Wikipedia article.
Nor have they denied reports the Royal family are all Lizard people! ![]()
As @ThelmaLou says, not to belabor the point;
I think Harry was rubbing salt on wounds by his book. I think he probably wrote it for his mental health. Ok. I get that. But maybe he should of taken a couple beats before publishing such a scandalous tome.
It’s not like it was ever gonna change anything in his family’s dynamic.
If they thrive on chaos, we must too, we certainly follow along. The book Spare was a blockbuster.
Part of the problem for Harry and Meghan is they’ve been living an extravagant lifestyle. I don’t know how Sarah Ferguson has been living but I doubt it’s as expensive.
You’d think, but apparently she has been having various levels of money/debt troubles for decades since her divorce. She does indeed apparently like to live the life of the rich and famous but has struggled at times with how to pay for it.
Perhaps once you’ve lived like a royal, anything less is hard to get used to?
I get the idea she’s living with one of her daughters and helping with the grandkids.
These people will never be starving or destitute. The air is different when you get that high and mighty.
No she isn’t. Where did you get that idea?
