The reign of King Charles III of the United Kingdom

Looks like it’s going to rain tomorrow. Classic.

Some cool coronation swag available here; proceeds benefit the independent charity Historic Royal Palaces:

Of course there’s plenty of tat around as well, much of which will be cheaper next week.

Also … there’s going to be a coronation concert on sunday, featuring some
of the “biggest names in music” … Take That, Katie Perry, Lionel Ritchie !

At lleast, unlike at sporting championships, tomorrow they won’t have to destroy half the pre-made swag with the wrong winner’s name on it.

So there’s that.

Or at least I sincerely hope that won’t be necessary.

And the 21 gun salute has started at the Legislature of Saskatchewan.

I can hear it from my office downtown.

There is an element of risk when the watery tart throws the sword.

God save the King of Canada!

And an RCAF fly-over !

Oddly enough, it seems that there are many folks who are unaware that Charles actually is the king of Canada.

King of Canada? That was Gordon Lightfoot until a few days ago, wasn’t it? Not sure who the heir apparent was/is.

I believe King Geddy I’s reign began automatically upon the death of his predecessor.

I thought he said Farewell to Kings.

Surprise, Meg will be part of the King’s Procession!

Rimshot by the late Neil Peart!

I have to say, it’s quite funny watching the royal procession right now while the commentators have to avoid mentioning that the road is increasingly covered in piles of fresh horseshit, and the horses and footmen are having to walk right through it, and the golden coach has probably got it all over the wheels at this point.

Good to see Lionel Richie in the congregation.

Of course it’s raining on the big day - for something as quintessentially British as a Royal Coronation you must have quintessentially British weather.

That’s why the Medieval era is sometimes called “The Dung Ages”

Wait, they were scouring the nation for bell-ringers, but somehow forgot pooper-scoopers? The New Years Day Rose Parade handles things better.
