I’m imagining a laboratory hidden under Balmoral, filled with failed half-human half-abomination king clones a la Alien Resurrection.
Nah, he’s a shapeshifting reptilian alien. He’ll just regenerate a new one.
Naw, since the Royal family are Lizard people, he simply grows a new one.
Haw, you beat me to it!
Mexican food - who knew?: Queen Elizabeth ‘absolutely loved’ 1 thing President Reagan introduced her to during US visit: book
I don’t know. Discovering the true market value of your integrity can be very disappointing.
Now that’s the kind of stuff we should’ve seen more of in the The Crown: the Queen chowing down on Tex-Mex and throwing shade at Jackie O by inviting agriculture ministers as dinner guests.
No sign of photo manipulation, fortunately: https://www.cnn.com/2024/04/23/europe/prince-louis-photo-birthday-intl-scli-gbr/index.html
Handsome boy, I have to admit. (but just wait for the (non)-hair genes doing their work, hehehe)
“Lovely girl,” indeed: https://www.cnn.com/2024/04/24/style/princess-dianas-job-contract-gbr-scli-intl/index.html
Did CNN screw up, or is it really correct to refer to the Prince and Princess of Wales as “the Waleses”?
It is not uncommon to use a title as if it were a surname. The Yorks, the Cambridges, the Gloucesters.
With “Wales” it sounds a little clumsy, but it is a normal usage.
Huh. Seems a little grating (or clumsy, as you say) to me, but OK.
IIRC, William was referred to as “William Wales” in university, and Harry’s BDU (or whatever they call it in Britain) said “WALES” on it.
Queen Elizabeth II was called Elizabeth Windsor when she served in WWII.
Interesting factoid:
The House of Windsor came into being in 1917, when the name was adopted as the British Royal Family’s official name by a proclamation of King George V, replacing the historic name of Saxe-Coburg-Gotha. It remains the family name of the current Royal Family.
The original family name sounded a wee bit too German.
Go back far enough and it gets tangled up with the question of precedence as between queens regnant and their husbands, and when succession is established through the female line. Saxe-Coburg-Gotha came from Albert rather than Victoria. The Hanoverians adopted Hanover as a name because the territory was their share of the inheritance from the mediaeval house of Welf. Their connection to the British throne came through the Electress Sophia, whose father’s ancestry was the Wittelsbachs of Bavaria (but her mother’s the Stuarts).
So, yes, the potential choices were all a bit too German-sounding for 1917. But plumping for the name of a historic place they lived in followed the Hanoverian precedent.
I keep hearing that KCIII’s funeral plans are being discussed. Is there anything to that?
So far, he’s only outlasted Edwards V and VIII, with about six months to go before surpassing Richard III. This makes me really sad.
They discussed Liz’s plans for decades, updating as necessary. It’s best to have a plan in place.
The plans for her funeral were codenamed “Operation London Bridge” and, as said, were in place for decades. There was even a side plan if she died in Scotland, which she did. The plans for Charles’ funeral are codenamed “Operation Menai Bridge.”
And there are similar plans made for the death of any US president.
he has had a plan in place for years; it would just be tweaking it for his higher rank.
