The reign of King Charles III of the United Kingdom

It was, but it came from Philip’s mother.

If we’re going with the strict patriline, they should all be Oldenburgs, anyway. If they want to anglicize that, they could always go with Oldborough.

AIUI the main line of the Danish Oldenburgs died out in the mid 19th century, and succession passed to the branch in Schleswig Holstein*, so strictly speaking they became Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Glücksburg. Or Glücksburg for short, so we could anglicise that as Luckborough. Or not.

*Hence the Schleswig-Holstein Question

Interesting article about Charles delivering the Throne Speech in Canada.

Royals are normally quite stoic in their public events but it appears he teared up a bit towards the end, particularly when the MPs and Senators have gone a standing ovation at the end.

You can thank the English Civil War for that titbit - Parliament reigns supreme and it would be a considerable discomfort for a monarch called Charles to forget it.

35 years ago, when I was in Scotland, in the town where I was living I found post boxes from Victoria, Elizabeth II, and all the kings in between except Edward VIII. (I don’t think he was on the throne long enough for any post boxes to be made with his name on them.)

Given the changes in postal business, one has to wonder what need there will be for new pillar boxes.

Although rare, Edward VIII post boxes do exist.

Currently (Since June 2013), Royal Mail has to provide a post box within 0.5 miles by straight line distance of at least 98% of delivery points [homes and businesses] nationally. For the remaining 2%, they have to meet the reasonable needs of users.

They have to empty them every day except Sunday.

Also I suppose there will be the ocassional postbox that gets smashed beyond repair by a runaway lorry.

Well, first it was the Royal Yacht Britainnia that got scuttled years ago in the interests of economy, and now it’s the Royal Train. I didn’t even know there was such a thing, but apparently there isn’t any more.

What next? Will Buckingham Palace become a condominium development?

I heard they’re going to turn it into a school

Hope they can bridge this chasm… but I doubt it:

Hang onto your brolly!:

It was a tad windy up north yesterday, true.

Jeez, I can believe it:

Let Charlotte know that if something happens to big brother……

Given the challenges with Prince Harry within his generation, I rather more wonder what William has told / will tell Charlotte & Louis about their fate / duty / destiny.

I have known a few people who lost a parent when they were around 12, as Harry was. They were ALL seriously screwed up for life, though all good people and pretty functional. Older and younger kids seem to recover better.

I’m not sure how much of Harry’s issues are likely to be shared by his nephew & niece.

Hope it was a good meeting:
