So I’ve been waiting for Medal of Honor:Breakthough. Not breathlessly, but still waiting. Before I went on my last trip I read that it would be relesed on Tue, 23 Sep. So I get back from my trip and stroll into my local Fry’s at 2 PM on Tuesday. No, MOH:B is not here. Maybe tomorrow, along with the C&C Generals expansion, a PS2 Tiger Woods game, and many other EA releases.
I go to a Best Buy: same story. No one in the DFW metroplex has the game yet, although 9/23 was advertised as the “on-shelf” date.
Today (9/24) I get to Fry’s again at 2 PM to find them wheeling a cartful of new games to the shelves. I talk to the cart guy and ask if I can snag a MOH:B game and he says sure. I run to the register, find out that Fry’s is only charging $18.99 for the game and go home.
So I ended up getting a great deal, but I still wonder why EA announces a release date and then misses it by a day. Have they always done this and this is just the first time I’ve noticed it?
Or was this a one-time deal? And if this is a pattern, why anger your customers? If New Line Cinema says TTT will be released on Day X, then by god there are tons of copies on the shelves that day. Why should this be different for EA games?
