What you meant to say is that it appears that Santorum is finally frothing up as the not-Romney.
No, see, it’s all in how you define terms: if the mission was to git Saddam replaced and, uh, eliminate all of Iraq’s WMDs, then, hey, presto, mission accomplished!
Karma’s a bitch, ain’t it Perry? The best resolution for this is if they eventually found in favor of getting people onto the ballot, but do it too late to help Perry and Gingrich
Mission creep is always a potential problem but there were more thana few folks clamoring for more direct involvement when Qaddafi was driving back the rebels in Libya. In the end the resistance will never disappear as long as we are bombing the heck out of Assad and making drop shipments of tank busters and 50 caliber machine guns to the rebels.
I have found Republican attempts to try and discredit Obama on foreign policy fucking hilarious:
Between OBL, Egypt, Libya, Iran, etc. They can’t help but trip over themselves trying to find some nuanced perspective from which Obama’s foreign policy can be considered failure.
Well Barry’s appeasing somebody, somewhere. We just had a whole thread about this. I mean he hasn’t started open warfare against the Palestinians, so he’s not supporting Israel enough, or something. Pay no attention to the dead Bin Laden at the bottom of the Atlantic…
Unless you lived in Florida and could have persuaded 213 of your Naderite friends to also vote rationally, then you’re not “to blame.”
And obviously there’s plenty of other blame to go around. Blame me if you wish – I didn’t even vote! (*)
But you amazed Naderites are still missing the point. Let me offer an analogy.
You and your friends are running from a pack of rabid wolves. You find safety in a barn, and will be OK. … Until one of your friends opens the barn door to shout out “Ralph Nader! Come save us!” The rabid wolves enter through the open door, and bite you all. As you’re dying whom do you blame? The rabid wolves? Or the friend who opened the door and let them in? (Now I suspect you’re going to object to this analogy on grounds that Bush voters might resemble sober Homo sapiens more than they do neurologically-diseased Canis lupus. But I find that claim debatable.)
(* - Anyway, feel free to blame me instead. I didn’t even vote. My excuses are:
(1) Legally I could vote only in California. Not being a “swing” state, such a vote would be irrelevant.
(2) The California Franchise Tax Board, bless its heart, has sent me repeated notices that any clue affiliating me with their state gives them the right to seize my assets for tax, whether I live in California or not. Since litigation and asset forfeiture are not my favorite recreations, voting is a privilege I waive.)
Politico just named Santorum the flavor of the month.
There are no words. (Or, if there are, I don’t wanna know 'em.)
slurp, slurp, smack
I heard on the radio yesterday, Bachmann comparing herself to Ronald Reagan.
I wonder if she knows Saint Ronnie raised taxes eleven times? I wonder if she knows Saint Ronnie made a speech in 1986 calling for raising taxes on the wealthy?
Of course she knows. She’s not stupid. The current strategy of the Republicans is not to take positions they believe in, but ones that their supporters will believe, or rationalize. They invoke symbols they know will froth up the support of their audience. In that way she’s very much like Ronald Reagan.
Anyone who would vote for Bachman is an idiot. What does she have to worry about truth or reason or anything of that nature?
The only Jobs program the Republicans seem to support is there own. Their campaigning has very little to do with what they actually support. They just need the votes to keep there jobs.
I think Bachmann may be bat shit crazy but she is not stupid. Continuing to run for president has little to do with actually winning and everything to do with bringing in money to keep herself elected. Right now she has huge national exposure which brings in the big bucks to her coffers. If she wasn’t running for president she’d collect very little in donations from outside her state.
The possessive form of “they” is “their.”
“Their” own.
“Their” jobs.
just heard Newt Gingrich bailed in Iowa.
I can’t confirm that Newt dropt out yet, but this hilarious excerpt is from an AP story posted a couple of hours ago:
[
Gingrich can’t even be consistent from moment to moment ffs.
The calliope is almost deafening.
