The Republican hypocrisy thread

I just can’t stand it anymore. In my opinion banana Republicans are massive, blatant, in your face hypocrites. Perhaps my memory is faulty, but it seemed like in years past they would at least try to hide it a bit but now they don’t even bother.

So I would like a thread to do nothing much but document instances of their hypocrisy. I’m not really looking for debate, just a place collect the worst of it. I’ve been thinking about starting this thread for awhile, but this finally pushed me over the edge.

I just can’t fathom, I mean I really can’t wrap my head around it at all, how someone could take a position that is 180 degrees from a previous position and keep a straight face or have any self respect at all.

It’s OK When a Republican Does It.
Pretty much sums it up.

Your link is dead (so it goes). But the most glaring example today is Newt complaining about the impeachment being at Christmas time when the articles against Clinton were passed as he (Clinton) was lighting the national tree.

This ‘document’ thingy? Might want to work on that.

CMC fnord!

Weird. It worked just 30 min ago. Oh well. What I was trying to link to was exactly that, Newt complaining about impeaching at Christmas time.

Republicans don’t base their opinions on facts, they just believe what their leaders tell them to believe. If they’re told to believe something else tomorrow then tomorrow they’ll believe something else. They have a great deal of their identity invested in their support of their leaders and would rather embarrass themselves trying to convince others that 2+2=5 than admit to backing bad people. Once you understand this you’ll understand their behaviour.

Lindsey Graham, January 16, 1999

Remember when he voted against aid for New Jersey but demanded help for his state?
And he couldn’t remember voting against aid.

Remember when the pussygrabber bragged about assaulting women? http://https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.nbcnews.com/news/amp/ncna1019156

He wanted the death penalty for five kids who’d been railroaded.

Duncan Hunter’s resignation letter says he will resign “after the holidays”. As a Republican, shouldn’t he have said “after Christmas”?

What, this thread had been up for several hours already and hasn’t blown up to 250000 posts already? Why not?

At the risk of threadshitting, I suspect this thread will not gain too much traction. There’s just way too too much Repub hypocrisy going on to ever keep a running catalog of. Even the fact checkers who give out WaPo’s Pinocchios have said they can’t keep up with it.

Now here’s an idea for a thread: Let’s all post instances of elected Repubs NOT being hypocritical. Sure, you can find occasional instances of this. That’s the point: It will be just common enough, but just uncommon enough, for such a thread to be manageable and to stay interesting.

It’s all gaslighting. The Republicans are gaslighting all the way down!

Republicans are strict constructionists where the 2nd Amendment is concerned. Article II, Section 4, not so much.

I think Nancy should reconstitute HUAC, and bring half the administration before it.

Republicans aren’t really hypocrites because they don’t actually mean anything they say. All that matters to them is holding onto power at all costs, so they will do whatever it takes. They don’t care if you catch them contradicting themselves or if you catch them in a lie because whatever they said served its purpose at the moment and now they’re on to the next tactic in maintaining minority hold on power.

Nm

Yes, you got it.

He’s waging a War On Christmas.

The fucker SHOULD be in jail.

Exactly. No one can keep up with it all.

Yep. We’re well past hypocrisy. This should be the thread title.

Suppose I was a hypocritical, power-lusting, pussy-grabbing traitor-thug.
Suppose I was a Republican.
But I repeat myself.

As was said earlier in this thread, it’s not hypocrisy; it’s collective gas lighting. The Republican party knows they’re hypocritical; they’re not even hiding it. The fact that they’re not attempting to hide it is what makes this GOP different from, say, the GOP of the Newt Gingrich era. The idea that they can say whatever the fuck they want, is a way of saying that they can do whatever they want. And they mean that sincerely: it’s their America, not yours. It’s their constitution, their law, their power. Not yours.
