The Republican national Convention

This is kind of mystifying to me, since wasn’t one of the main talking points of Trump supporters back in the day the claim that they didn’t want members of some “political dynasty” continuing to run the country? They liked “outsiders” who had the ability to win on “their own merits” as opposed to their family connections?

But now that their favorite “outsider” turns out to have spawned some offspring who not only inherit some of their various mothers’ model/actress good looks but can actually read coherent English off a teleprompter with reasonable poise, they’re all excited about turning said offspring into a political dynasty of their own.

Sure, although bear in mind that Trump divorced his first wife when their oldest son was 13 and divorced his second wife when their only child was 3. Both his ex-wives had full custody post-divorce, AFAICT, and both of them have claimed that Trump didn’t have much to do with actually raising the kids.

Yep, this is what we are all waiting to see. Will His Orange Highness read off the teleprompters or will he start winging it? I hope he goes way off the script and makes this interesting.

Apparently that was the Benediction. I found it offputting.

Venture Capitalist Peter Thiel is supposed to talk about being gay next. Should go down like a lead balloon with this crowd.

Tump’s VP Mike Pence is Mr. Anti-LGBT. He said, “Congress should oppose any effort to recognize homosexual’s [sic] as a discreet [sic] and insular minority entitled to the protection of anti-discrimination laws similar to those extended to women and ethnic minorities.”

“I am proud to be gay. I am proud to be a Republican. But most of all, I am proud to be an American.”

Surprisingly, he wasn’t booed off the stage.

A video narrated by Arrogant Donald Jr. “Everything my father does is first class.” I feel nauseous.

Any booing that might have started at I am proud to be gay would have looked damn silly when he then went on to be proud of being a Republican and most of all an American.

Did Reince Priebus accuse the Clinton Foundation of funding terrorism? I think he was trying to say that the foundation has taken money from people who are from countries that fund terrorism, which is some pretty weak guilt by association shit, but it was worded so awkardly (intentionally?) that it sounded like he was saying that the Clinton Foundation was the funder.

Yeah, he had a good delivery there to keep the crowd behind him on what could have been a divisive point.

That nod to Melania by Tom Barrack was creepy and way too much.

Donald has one of his rich friends, Tom Barrack, CEO of Colony Capital, kissing his fat orange ass. This is where the entire audience takes a bathroom break.

Given Donald’s history with Gaddhafi, you’d think they wouldn’t want to open that can … but there I go thinking of them as rational people interested in reality.

Tom Barrack tells a story which demonstrates Donald is nice to “little” people.

I’m actually going to watch the acceptance speech. Not sure why. Guess it’s cuz I’m up.

Trump’s big legacy: Improve the Trump name.

An exceptionally long music break while we wait for Princess Ivanka to address her loyal subjects.

Exactly! Not improve the world, improve the Trump name. Another weird anecdote courtesy of Tom Barrack.

Just read an article the other day about this sleazeball’s company. His capital firm was part of how Trumpster won the right to renovate the Old Post Office building into a luxury hotel. The Old Post Office building, which is a few blocks form the White House, that is. Trump won the bid through in no small part, his promise to retain an architect who had played a key role in the buildings history, and also that Trump had the backing of Colony Capital, Barrack’s firm.

Almost immediately after winning the bid, Trump fired the architect, and then let it slip out that Colony Capital would be pulling out as well. Trump then borrowed against the property itself to finance the renovation. And he has applied for multiple tax breaks because he is restoring a historic building. But he really isn’t really even doing that. He wants to carpet over the marble floors, and put gold leaf on everything.

You know, I wonder if we’re missing the actual point of the Trump candidacy? Not as a conspiracy theory to elect Clinton, not as simply a vanity project, but maybe he’s trying to increase Ivanka’s national profile? Is it a coincidence that Ivanka is first eligible to run for President in 2020?

Princess Ivanka is not categorically Republican or Democrat?
