The Republican Party is the Party of Evil

:worried:

I think it means that he made multiple trips over a 5 year period, and I don’t think it was the same minor each time.

The wording is strange because the law is strange. The US can’t charge a crime committed in another country, and the rape may not be considered rape…or a crime, even…in the country where it took place.
The only crime the US can charge its citizens and residents with is traveling to another country with the intent to have sex with a minor, which is a law designed to combat child sex tourism.

The article doesn’t say whether or not he actually had sex with a child, but the wording of the law doesn’t mean he didn’t. They do have to prove intent, sometimes the culprit was the customer of a special kind of travel agent and those records provide plenty of evidence of intent.

So gross.

Very timely, and I have my answer.

Ohio abortion rights referendum - latest Replicant maneuver - purging voters before the vote in predominately Democratic areas. They could re-register but not before the voting date.

I like to know what they think they’re going to accomplish here other than sinking the proposal. The voters will remember all these petty shenanigans. I think if this is challenged in court they will lose, not to mention they are on the losing side of the issue, and it’s going to bite them in the ass sooner or later.

That’s an insult to Replicants, frankly.

I used to think the title of this thread was a bit of hyperbole. I don’t think that at all anymore.

And I hate how this all makes me feel.

More information on the Holmberg case. His child porn “supplier” had a prior connection with Holmberg since he also accidentally killed his business partner (by driving over him multiple times with a front-end loader, which sounds like a weird accident to me) while working at Holmberg’s house. Quite the meet-cute.

So did I.

I didn’t. I just wished it was.

Republicans Accused of Voter Purge in Multiple States

Lying, evil fucks.

I always thought of it as an entirely non-controversial statement of fact that hardly needed a Pit thread to point it out.

Alabama mayor and pastor Bubba Copeland, who also enjoyed dressing in women’s clothing in his private time, was outed by a conservative website and driven to suicide.

From your link:

In response, Baptist leaders in Alabama issued a statement saying they had “become aware of the alleged unbiblical behavior.”

What can they do? I thought Baptist congregations are completely independent.

Also, isn’t suicide usually more complicated than just one thing “driving a person to suicide”?

Yes, but there is still a central organization that communicates, shares ideas, prepares study guides, etc.

But I think the reporter was using that as a way to monitor the collective response of the community of baptists. Did they buy his arguments for what he did?

Typically, yes, but there can be a trigger event that increases the tension/ depression enough to cause the person to have a dramatic shift in mood, and changes their assessment of their life.

That’s a pretty big secret to have revealed to that bunch of folks.

All the background on Sen. Tumorville (AL-moron). The good, the bad, the worse, and the ignorant.

Ah yes, fine young Americans. Let us all follow their example! /s

Is there a word to describe being shockingly appalled, and yet not at all surprised?

I’m sure the Germans have one.
