The Republican Party is the Party of Evil

I was talking specifically about 2021, and the theories that Trump would just refuse to leave the White House and act like he was still president.

So we actually agree more than you think.

I have seen some pundits say that the US Supreme Court is delaying Trump’s trial to give him a chance to become president. SCOTUS will not say the president is above the law but they will say you cannot prosecute him while he is president. Which then means Trump will know he can never, ever leave office and will work diligently to be sure he is president till the day he dies…however long that takes. If he leaves office he would go to jail. Trump will do anything to avoid that. Nothing is too awful for him because, in his mind, there is only him that matters.

Hitler didn’t eliminate the Reichstag - he merely turned it into a rubber stamp for his every whim. Putin’s got his Duma - ditto. Mussolini, Stalin, Pol Pot, Xi, all the Kims - dictators keep a legislative assembly around to both help them administer the organs of state and as a source of scapegoats for whatever harebrained idea comes back to haunt them. Trump won’t be any different - he’ll make sure that he’s got a solid majority (or supermajority) of Congress that is obsequiously loyal to him though both adoration and fear.

He just has to come up with a pretext. LIke “the election was rigged, and I’ll have to stay here until we can run it again, fairly.” Two weeks turns into two years, turns into a lifetime.

You misspelled December 19, 2019.

(January 7, 2021)
Is it still down?

But he’s not the president. The military is preserving the Republic by not serving a usurper.

Right, but a rubber stamp is not a competing political power base. Yeah, I did mention Papatine disbanding the galactic senate. Puppet legislature is just as effective, and advantageous for maintaining the illusion of a democracy.

Exactly. If Congress had played along, i.e. Pence caved and the Repubs backed the play, it would have been chaos. Congress refuses to certify the election, declares Trump the winner. Lawsuit immediately goes to the Supreme Court.

Now look at what’s going on right now. The court could have deferred to the lower court decision about Trump’s Presidential immunity case. If was solid with no dissent. Instead, they’ve taken up the case, delaying the trial further.

Now even if they eventually decide against Trump on all points, they have delayed the case even closer to the election. That’s a bonus to Trump right there.

It’s clear they’re putting their thumb on the scale in Trump’s favor. You think this court would have not found a way to validate Congress selecting Trump? What do you mean that violates the Constitution? If Congress does it and the Supreme Court validates it, what recourse is there? Who has the authority to do anything? Other than outright revolt, or a military coup.

Election of Congress, you say? And how’s that supposed to work when they’re throwing out results they don’t like?

He hasn’t flown that one yet.

They didn’t just “take up the case.” The court waited about as long as it could to say it would take the case. Then, they put the date for arguments near two months out. Then, they might render a decision in June or July.

The judge for Trump’s case said he’d get seven months to prep for trial. Which means if the SCOTUS says the president is not above the law (which I expect they will…if they rule otherwise Biden can have them all assassinated with no repercussion) then the clock starts.

June (1), July (2), August (3), September (4), October (5), November (6).

Remember, the SCOTUS heard the case and decided Bush v. Gore in four days (all of it…arguments to decision).

The conservative justices on the supreme court just gave a political candidate a huge gift to keep a criminal out of jail. They should be ashamed (but I think many of them lack that capacity).

They also were very quick to stop student loan relief.

MAGA SCOTUS - Latin for robed assholes.

Or however short.

I remember a threat from a TV show: “You’re only president for life”.

Bond movie, IIRC.

Fake AI pictures are being used to make African Americans think Trump’s a good candidate for them. But if you’re fooled by the images, that’s your fault, according to the guy who made some of them (“If anybody’s voting one way or another because of one photo they see on a Facebook page, that’s a problem with that person, not with the post itself.”). It’s not surprising that these would be used, and it brings up that old question in politics: do you do the right thing, or the effective thing?

His fingers are normal sized. Yep, fake.

Well, at least he has all his fingers, unlike the poor dude on the left.

If Trump is actually 6′ 3″ then how tall is the woman in red??? 6"5’+?

They look a bit longer than an average person’s.

What the hell does that guy’s hat say?

Looks like “MEEKK A”. Can’t make out the rest.

The guy on the left is missing what looks to be most of an abnormally small ring finger.

Maybe he’s plugging a hole in the woman’s arm.
