I understand that having confidential information get out can be disruptive, but why not tell the families? I’d want to know what happened to them.
It speaks to the purpose of the review board. They aren’t analyzing cases for wrongdoing. The porpose is to look for systemic issues that can be addressed, not find answers to the individual cases.
There are other processes for that kind of discovery, notably an autopsy.
Confidentiality of the board’s work is intended to foster openess and candor in responses to the investigations. Someone would be less likely to share an error they made if the informative could come out.
There were, presumably, some gay LGBTQIA people who voted for Trump. I’m sure the MAGA folks will come down like a ton of bricks on the suggestion that same-sex marriage might be in danger.
