Sort of the way the German people said they supported the Nazis when asked.
No thanks.

The survey will be -
Similar to Trump’s ‘surveys’
I’m sure that they then go and check any donations you’ve made, or any other ways of determining your affiliation.
I do wonder how long until Florida universities are no longer accredited institutions.
Politifact is somewhat reassuring. But only somewhat, and only because they haven’t gotten around to creating the survey yet. Don’t know what DeSantis is on about, though.
The survey hasn’t been created yet, so we don’t know what it will ask students, faculty and staff at these institutions. But a spokesperson for the Florida Department of Education told us it will be voluntary and won’t ask about individuals’ political beliefs, though surveys in other states that lawmakers have cited as inspiration for the bill do.
But, as written, the law doesn’t require public college and university students, faculty and staff to register their political views with the state.
I’m going to love the fallout when every Florida college team goes bye-bye.
Lying liar, or deliberately ignorant?
The bill doesn’t specify anonymity or questions, so eh. As I said, it’s only somewhat reassuring.
It’ll be interesting to see how this actually works out.
But the last line
“It’s merely going to ask whether they feel they can express their political viewpoints and opinions in their college classrooms,” Etters said. “The idea is to get at ‘Do they feel safe expressing their own viewpoint in college?’”
Okay, so how does someone answer this that takes a biology course, and the professor asks them to stop disrupting the class with their lecture on creationism?
If this nonsensical “intellectual diversity” harassment gets serious, I wonder if there’s a possible BFOQ [bona-fide occupational qualification] defense strategy.
I mean, I think there’s a case to be made that not being a completely delusional anti-science facts-denying nutbag is in fact a bona fide occupational qualification for an instructor at an accredited higher education institution.
They survey (pdf) is multiple choice so there isn’t a lot of opportunity to provide silly answers, the best you could do is to say that you are a conservative the university is strongly biased against liberal thought.
The whole purpose of they can so that the Tucker Carlson devotees among the students and faculty think that exploring experiences outside of white male Christians is discriminatory can be can say how marginalized they feel, and so prove Carlson right.
I mean, the last question of the survey specifically asks
“Where would you place yourself on the following scale”
Conservative
Moderate
Liberal
Other
The questions are a bit ambiguous, open to interpretation, which is by design, I believe. A liberal who doesn’t face specific sanction for their views is going to say that the campus is fairly free for speech. A Conservative who once saw someone roll their eyes while they were launching into a Pro-Trump tirade is going to whine that they were being oppressed.
Or Airstrip One.
Doubleplus Ungood.
GQP mascot candidate for Secretary of State in Michigan. Not too fond of trans people. Big believer in election fraud [because that’s what she would have done].
“None of your fucking business.”
Well, it is none of their fucking business because the survey is optional.
Which means a self selection bias, those who feel as though their right of free expression has been violated will be more likely to take the survey than those who don’t.
If this survey was put out by Gallup, it would be irresponsible. That it’s put out by the state in order to inform policy choices is downright, well, evil.
“Damnit, those Damn Democrats™ stole my identity again! Just like during the election! Ain’t that just like those people, amiright?”
Right-wing assholes don’t have to prove it beyond a shadow of a doubt. It is a sniff test, and if you don’t smell 100% “Right”, you’re getting thrown under the bus. Cutesy excuses ain’t gonna cut it.
Remembering my days at University, I’m confident that there will be plenty of students lining up to mess with their results.
“Why yes, I’m a Republican-voting Conservative Christian who hates abortion and taxes, loves guns and Trump, and I feel perfectly safe telling my libtard professors how stupid they all are!”
Like I said, transparent crap like than is just going to get your teachers fired as insurrectionists. This isn’t a cute game to them-this is war.
And by fired, you actually mean shot.
