Saw something on Lawrence O’Donnell that caught my attention. He was noting that for all the internet flurry and bluster, no actual mass protests seem to have occurred. He filmed a couple of lackluster protests with crowds in the low two digits, and wondered why the Trumpenproles were not amassing to rage, and wondered why this fact was not noticed.

I just thought of something: assuming Republicans take the House and go through with their “investigations,” can anyone else just see them…lying about testimony?
The way I could see this happening, from my layman’s perspective of politics and how things work in DC:
- Keep Democrats off their committee.
- Closed door testimony
- Lie their ass off about the testimony (e.g. “The FBI director told us today that he was pressured to make up a case against Trump by Biden himself.”)
- Seal the actual testimony for “national security.”
- (Important) Whatever anyone else says and does, just keep repeating the lie firmly over and over and over again, to pressure the media on all sides to report on it and to keep the lie at the forefront of everyone’s minds.
- Claim that whoever denies the lie is themselves lying. Threaten arrests for perjury and obstruction (maybe actually make one or two of low level folks)
- Use the momentum and chatter to impeach Biden and force the Senate to take a stand
- Therefore “proving” that Biden is at least as bad as Trump, and the Deep State, etc etc
Now, such an attempt could face consequences at some point that I don’t see, or there’s a hole in my knowledge. But honestly, can’t you see someone like Taylor-Greene at least trying regardless?

The candidate who beat Liz Cheney in the primary last week has already lied about Cheney “not conceding” the election. So yeah, if they’re okay with lying about something so easy to prove, lying about closed-door testimony won’t even be a speed bump on the road to them.
There was so much crazy here, I had to transcribe the video in the linked tweet (with my favorite part bolded) to get a full sense of the evil:
