Has a second season been greenlighted yet? Anyone else think tonight’s episode will end on a cliffhanger regarding whether or nor Doug kills Pete?
Well this didn’t turn out quite how I thought it would, but it was a great finale. I didn’t expect they’d ever be able to convince Pete to drop it without him actually meeting a living Doug. Damn Pete’s gulible! What does Nina know now? She knows they were living under false identities (though I don’t think she knows that the Riches were real yet). She over heard Dahlia (& possibely Wayne) saying skaal krush. Is that Gaelic :dubious: or something made up for the show? I can’t find any matches for the exact phrase and removing the quotes brings up a bunch of Scandanavian sites. How can they go back to being “the Riches” now? Kill Dale and Pete? I was wondering what they were gonna do with Cherien’s mom (what is her first name
). I afraid they’d just leave her there (although given the chance Pete would’ve called 911 when he woke up) or maybe drop her off at an ER.
Looks like it was given a go for 13 more episodes for season 2

Outstanding!
Looks like Pete is toast, BTW.
It was good timing to have Dale get psycho on Pete right at the end, well not for Pete but for me. He was actually starting to amuse me and I sorta forgot just what a freak he really is.
I can’t wait for the next season.
Minnie and Eddie have done a great job this season. Not to mention the rest of the cast. I’m happy to see they’ll be back.
There must be some guilt coming down unless our protagonists are themselves a family of psychopaths. Enough dead Buffers and anyone will feel responsible. I look forward to Wayne confronting Dale with the murder or attempted murder of Pete next season.
My WAG is the Dale kills Pete (one leak down) and Wayne will end up killing Dale. Then somehow they’ll return to Eden Falls and resume life as the Riches (that is the title after all). Nina knows alot (but not everything), but seems willing to keep their secrets. This could change if she finds out more.
I would agree with that, but there must be some difficult way to work through it, and I wonder what sort of conflict will continue. They just can’t turn into Ozzie and Harriet, however you spell them.
I’m thinking Dale will blackmail them into carrying on as the Riches (they don’t have to return because he prevented them from leaving), and giving him a percentage, or letting him stay with them and pretend too.
Perhaps Wayne (more likely Dahlia, thinking dramatically) will wind up killing Dale, but I don’t think they can till Dale forces them to reestablish some momentum as the Riches.
I don’t think Dale is gonna get to go through with his murder of Pete. He doesn’t want him going to the police because he wants a piece of the Rich pie, but I’ve a hunch that Wayne will show up to defuse the situation and get Dale out of the picture, probably by brokering some sort of uneasy truce to keep him at bay. Despite the fact that Pete keeps finding the holes in the con, I doubt he’ll end up being a legitimate threat because he’s such an emotional wreck.
Sorry about resurrecting a 14-day old thread; I actually missed the season finale on FX (the fact that I missed it in spite of having a DVR is pretty amazing, but that’s another story) and didn’t get a chance to see it again till just now.
I have to agree with anamnesis I think Pete is going to survive the attempted murder and that will probably lead him to come to some understanding with Wayne/Doug. I could be totally wrong, it just seems like if they wanted “what’s going to happen now that Pete has been murdered” as the cliffhanger, the last scene would have definitively shown the hammer coming down onto Pete’s field of vision. But since that didn’t happen, I think the cliffhanger is “is Pete going to die?” Which just kinda suggests that he’s probably going to be saved.
But of course, that’s why they call it a “cliff hanger”.
This program has been so outstandingly written than I think it may continue to be outstanding whichever way it goes; whether they save Pete or must help Dale hide the body and gain some control over Dale.
My husband thinks that Dale will kill Pete and assume his identity; I’m not so sure about that, but it’s an interesting theory.
The one armed woman and the guests at the part know he isn’t Pete. Refresh me on Pete’s background. Has he a family?
AFAIK Pete is from out of state. But could Dale actually pull it off?
I vaguely remember Pete’s depression being over a divorce.
Sure Dale could pull it off if Pete has no family looking for him. Remember the son saying, “He’s Dale”? He’s an expert Traveler and con man. The only problem would be if the one armed lady and others already know him as someone else. There would be some truce with the Riches to protect each other’s false identity that would make for plots.
Yeah, AFAICR Pete’s situation is similar to Doug’s, no or not much family and few people likely to be looking for him. I imagine Dale could get Hartley (one-armed woman) to go along with it by telling her it’s part of some scheme to get back at Doug. He did meet some people at the party, but it was only once, and he was in a kind-of disguise, so he might be able to change his appearance in some other way and possibly pull it off.
Good point. This is sounding better and better; Doug walks in looking for the distributor cap to find Dale and a dead Pete. Some blackmail both ways to hide the body and keep identities secret.
Cool.
