The Riches 2nd season premiere 18 Mar '08 (open spoilers)

The Riches season two starts tonight at 10:00pm on FX (& again at 11). Who else is excited? Any word on how the Strike effected this season?

I was a big fan of season 1 and I was really pleased that the writing and the storylines have maintained their quality over the strike (unlike, say, Dirt which sucks ass now).

Anyone else watching?

I thought it was pretty good.

I’m watching!! Or, rather, hubby and I watched the first episode, and now we’re constantly bitching and whining “Is it Tuesday yet?” We are not patient folk, and this show is #1 on our list of viewing pleasures.

Pssst…Is it Tuesday yet?

Lookee, search is back, whee!

We finally caught the first episode last night, and I’m already exhausted for these poor folks. Seriously, this show has made me realize I can never ever pull off any major capers or be a grifter; the whole thing just looks tiring.

So very glad it’s back!

The season premiere was very good. I have to agree with you on being exhausted watching them, they always have to be on their toes and ready because last night they were really coming up against some drama! The fundraiser thing got me all nervous!

I laughed when Wayne saved the day with his federal agent bit. I love how the show affords Eddie constant opportunities for his unique humor to shine through all the heavy drama. Part of his whole standup routine is silly half-attempts at impressions that never really work the way they’re meant to, so when he gets a chance to break from the serious tone of the show just to be silly and try out some new persona, I can’t help but smile.

Oh yeah, and Shannon Woodward is tres hott. I feel I must post this every time I enter one of these threads.

Minnie Driver recently revealed that she is pregnant with her first child. I wonder if the pregnancy will be written into The Riches. Hope so. It’s kind of distracting when shows try to disguise a pregnancy with big, baggy clothes and camera angles that interpose furniture between the actress and the camera.

Standing in the grave, I was hoping Wayne would whack Dale on the back of the head and hide two bodies.

I had the same thought, but Wayne just isn’t inclined to murder in his heart. I think it would have detracted from the character somewhat. Leaving Dale to walk home was sweet, though.

Agreed! Dale kept going on and on about his hands like he was a doctor or a hand model like his hands depended on his job. Not to mention he is just a constant pain in their families behinds! The thing is while Dale can be a thorn he kind of helped them out last night with his distraction about coffee in the meeting! Dale is a pivotal character for this series and I just hope his greediness leads to him helping them keep their cover more than anything.

I think Dale, the Russian, the Black Cop and the Joyce fan need to spend some time together in a very small space with some blunt objects.

LOL I can see how you might feel that way! Especially when they are always causing all kinds of trouble! But the show would just not be the same without them! I have to save I am a bit more focused and concerned about this Quinn character.

Did this show get good? We watched the first three or four episodes, but despite a hell of a premiere, it seemed like they kept getting worse and worse. For people who were supposed to be professional, genetic liars they sure were bad at thinking on their feet and cover story fabrication. They seemed to keep having conversations like:

Person: “are you here for the job interview?”
Mrs. Rich: “Oh! Err… what? Job interview you say? Oh… um… yes. Interview. Yes, I’m here for the job interview.” /befuddled expression

I’d be willing to give it a shot again, I was really disappointed that it looked like it wasn’t going to get off the ground. I loved the first episode.

IMO I think the show is really good. Not many others out there like it. I can understand what you say to a point about them having to be professional liars then they should be ready always. But the thing is if they have been doing this forever I know it has to get tiring and you can kind of tell by what is going on now with Dahlia. I am sure it has to be hard to keep that kind of thing up.

I loved it. I am a HUGE fan of the show. Eddie Izzard is awesome (as usual) and Minnie Driver continues to be hot.

However, I would pay money to see Shannon Woodward read the phone book. Especially if I could get REAL close. She’s the hottest thing alive right now.

Just finished watching this week’s ep! Loved the bit at the mall with Didi and Cael. I think the actors who play them do a good job (as do the writers) of portraying the way teens’ minds work. I was super nervous last week when Dahlia turned herself in, nd I think it’s just going to get worse from here!! Gah, this show makes me crazy. I love it but by the time they show the previews for the upcoming stuff my heart is pounding out of my chest and my palms are all sweaty. I’ll probably get slapped with a trout for saying this, but I think Wayne should just tell Hugh who he is. Hugh’s enough of a shady character, and an asshole to boot, that I don’t think he’ll treat Wayne any different (as long as Wane continues to help him make money) and Wayne could really use the extra help. Oh, and it’s killing me that Wayne and Dahlia are lying to each other more and more. Even though they are criminals, I’ve always thought of them as “good people who are trying to do what they have to in order to keep their family afloat.” But if it continues to escalate like it has been, I see bad things happening to the Malloys.

PS- Is it Tuesday yet?

Someone may have already mentioned it, but as soon as he tells her about the late Pete she becomes an accessory to murder.

I am so into this show. Started watching it recently on Hulu and am now caught up.

This show makes me so nervous! I need to re-watch this past episode because I was zoning out from exhaustion, but at the beginning when Dahlia was at the police station and telling absolutely horrible lies - ahh! And how Wayne had to make the guy that went to college with Doug believe it was really him. I wish Hulu put the episodes up right away, because I recorded it on my DVR but won’t be at home and have time until Sunday to watch it, only have internet access until then.

To be honest, this show does get a little ridiculous sometimes, but it’s a show, it’s not real, doesn’t have to be super realistic, and I still freaking love it.

BTW - if you’re in US, Eddie Izzard is touring. Lots of cities too.

I think the scenes with Cael and Didi were really good, they really love each other and then them working together to make money was just cute!(side note Didi’s voice is really pretty) Dahlia … when it comes to her it seems like her intentions are good she is just going about it the wrong way. The previews had me super nervous because the parole office is not on her side and I am just too scared to see what happens and what he will make Dahlia do. I was also kind of bummed about how much they were keeping from each other but carnivorousplant
brings up a good point that in a way they are just trying to protect each other.

Hugh made me mad about the entire business plan deal, I guess that is why he is going to more than likely get screwed out of that one!
