The Right Wing Paranoids Are Right Again

In 2008, if I had stated on these boards, “Barack Obama will order schools to let transvestites to use the ladies room at all American schools, and will threaten any school that does not comply,” what do you think everyone would have said?

Czarcasm: “Cripes, Astorian, you need to lay off Fox News! It’s making you delusional.”

Miller: “Don’t be ridiculous. That will never, ever happen. That’s a typical deranged Rush Limbaugh fantasy.”
Well, today it is actually HAPPENING. SO, are any liberals sheepishly mumbling, “Er, gosh, I guess I was totally wrong?” Nope. They’re yelling, “YESSSSS!!! About damn time! And to all you stupid homophobic bigots: IN YOUR FACE!”

That is what Christian blogger Rod Dreher called the Law of Merited Impossibility. Summed up thus, “That will never, ever happen- and I can’t wait until it does!” or “Don’t be paranoid! Gay marriage can’t possibly affect YOU- and boy, do you deserve what you’re going to get!”

Since it’s obviously happening, could I please have a link to a story about Barack Obama ordering schools to let transvestites to use the ladies room at all American schools? I seem to have missed that on the news.

Did you in fact make this prediction in 2008?

Even if he did, he’d still be wrong, since the President didn’t order schools to do anything regarding bathrooms and transvestites.

Should we also point out transvestites are not necessarily transgendered or would that be too much?

astorian, transvestite is not the same as transgender.

Geez, it is hard to have a rational discussion with someone who uses the wrong terms in the first paragraph of their premise. Intentional or simply in ignorance? Hint for the OP, the word you wanted to use was transgender not transvestite. So, nice sabotaging your own discussion.

Also, I notice that you say IF you had said that in 2008, here is what these people would have said. It is always gratifying to know that conservatives can retroactively read minds when presenting hypothetical situations. I am neither Czarcasm nor Miller, but just for the record if in 2008, you had told me that the Federal Government (as embodied by the Obama administration) would contend in 2016 that transgender individuals had a right to access the bathrooms that correspond with their gender identity; I would have said ABOUT DAMM TIME! I would have said in 2008, I say it now. Your contention that every person to the left of you would have told you it was a paranoid fantasy, is actually your own paranoid fantasy.

Also, I note this placed in Great Debates, what is the debate you propose?

I know, I considered asking that, but I’d like to clarify if he or anyone else was “right” about this. You cannot say you were “right” about a prediction you made in 2008 if you did not in fact make such a prediction.

If I had said in 2008 “The GOP is so nuts that in 2016 they’ll nominate Donald Trump after Trump runs a campaign of nonstop lies, crude insults and racist comments so grotesque the entire GOP establishment will be embarrassed” people would have said I was crazy but then I would have been proven right. But I DIDN’T say that, so I wasn’t “right again.” It doesn’t matter if it’s true or not, I didn’t predict it.

If something hypothetical had happened eight years ago, I suggest that these people would have said this hypothetical statements that by a stretch of logic are contradictory to something some other people might be saying now.

Ready? DEBATE!

At the very least, this boils down why right wingers are so worked up about this issue (that they created). After all, it’s just guys with dresses in the ladies’ room!

Did anybody make the prediction back in 2008 that astorian would be really, really wrong in 2016? Because if you did, congratulations! Good job!

I am saying right now that something bad will happen in 2024.
Heed my words.

I’d say “it’s about time we moved on from the GeeDubya policy of telling them to shit on the floor or whatever he thought they were supposed to do.”

Here’s a Link

Maybe one of our local attorneys could advise, but is there some sort of clear, national jurisprudence on this subject yet?

They do seem to have an unhealthy obsession with bodily functions. I blame poor toilet training.

Is the OP self-identifying as a Right Wing Paranoid or am I misreading his post?

More a rant, really.

Off to the Pit.

Nope, what there is in the 4th circuit, where the Justice Dept. is challenging NC’s HB2 and its discriminatory intent. However, if the Justice Dept. and the by extension the Obama administration feel that NC HB2 is discriminatory then restroom access for transgender students should be treated across the nation in the same manner by the administration. Meaning those funds which public schools receive which are predicated on following federal guidelines can and should be in jeopardy. Certainly there will be lawsuits challenging such action both in and out of the 4th circuit, and this matter will eventually end up in front of SCOTUS. (Now let’s all take moment and realize how the righties are going to use this issue to scaremonger about the vacant SCOTUS seat they won’t do their job to fill.)

None of which cures the OP’s mistakes. This is not about transvestism, and nobody said anything remotely likely what was in the thread starter.

And you are wrong as usual.

Yes yes, it is exceptionally horrible that the President wants schools to comply with existing Federal law and stop being shitheads about this issue. The horror…the HORROR!!!

Meanwhile the bigoted right still has been unable to provide a single example of a transgendered individual assaulting women or children in a restroom because of this.
