It’s your own fault Tao. You shouldn’t have bought such tasty glasses.
Howdy y’all from da cave! I did indeed declare an early day. Ok, I will irk a bit from here but not long. I’m even gonna make dindin. On a Firday. Ham, mac&cheese, squish, butter beans, rolls and maybe even a peach cobbler. I should get good and “appreciated” for that.
Well I’m $490.70 lighter from my visit to the MVA this morning - now the F350 and the Explorer are registered and tagged in MD, and the title for the Explorer (which is mine free & clear) is in MD now. The F350 needs the future ex to sign off on it as solely mine (which she is obligated to do by the separation agreement) but it won’t be much fun tracking her down to do it.
It’s interesting that the title can stay Virginia but it can register in MD, but they tell me that is legit (though I do need to fix it soon).
So that’s nice 'cause I was paying $420 a month for a lawn ornament.
Da cave is smellin’ nummerific. OYKW will be here around 4:30 and dindin will be ready and waitin’. I’s hongry so an early dindin it will be. Ima pop a peach cobbler in the oven while dindin is consumed. Since that’s OYKW’s absolute favorite, large “appreciation” shall ensue. I even have 'niller ice cream.
HOME!! And pooped from all the fresh air and sunshine. We wandered around the boat show and went aboard half a dozen yachts, from 27’ to (I think) 54’. There was a 32’ Nordic tug that we’d love to have - in beautiful condition and it looks to be quite comfy. And the broker said we could probably get it for a mere $149K!! Such a deal on an 11 year old boat… And the 54’ was listed at a mere $1.55 million… The brokers on that one were real snots. They obviously didn’t like that all us broke looky-loos were walking on their boat.
Oh, yeah, on the way to the boat show we stopped in Upper Marlboro to see some pellet stove inserts, and ended up buying 2 inserts with flue liners. Upstairs, we’ll have the pellet stove insert, and downstairs we’ll have a wood stove insert. They should be installed by the first week of November - so yay! Meanwhile, we’ve got an older wood-burning insert and a small free-standing wood stove to sell. I’ll list 'em for cheap on Craigslist and with luck, they’ll be gone fast.
And tomorrow, the two little sailboats go away - slowly but surely, we’re getting rid of stuff.
swampy, after tomorrow, the FairyChatYacht will be a peapod dinghy that we bought about 15 years ago, stripped down, and never got around to finishing. As we were driving home we were talking about the whole boat ownership thing - assuming we bought another boat for cash - no loan - we’d still need to budget at least $500/month for marina, insurance, and maintenance costs, and then there’s fuel… and there’s no way we can swing $150K cash - seriously, we may come across as millionaires, but we ain’t!
I did suggest, yet again, that we try a charter, maybe in the spring. We shall see. I also suggested he build a boat, since he’s now got a mill and a lathe as well as all the woodworking tools. I thought a boat that looks like a U-boat would be fun!! We shall see how that goes. But unless a mysterious gazillionaire leaves us a boat with perpetual slip rent payments, I don’t know if boat ownership is in our future. Of course, that’s what I thought before we bought the last boat.
Anyway, I mostly assembled a ceramic tape dispenser. I had to roll out another piece of clay and it needs to dry out a bit before I can finish putting the whole thing together - maybe Sunday? I also cut out a hand turkey! Maybe next weekend I’ll have a kilnload ready to go.
So, I did get one homework assignment finished and I’m going to turn it in a few minutes from now. I’ve also been thinking about my halloween costume. I’ve got two more events to attend where I’ll be getting dressed up (and I won’t have to worry about the weather like the last one). I’m going to be a fork fairy with wings, a poofy-ish skirt, and a fork hat. it just occurred to me, though, that a fork fairy probably also needs a fork wand, too. Right?
I installed new switches in two buildings, got them to communicate over alternate fiber paths, and just pulled plugs from the old switches to the new so that folks were out of touch for a couples of minutes. I called another building to see how their connection was; they didn’t know they’d been off.
Mrs. Plant v.3.0 is ill and has gone to the Arms of Morpheus, Poor Baby.
Shabbot Shalom, y’all!
