Long ago, when my rugrat was a preschooler and my Mom was still alive, the VunderFam lived in an apartment complex in Indiannoplace. Two doors down lived a family of Bible thumpers. We got along OK, but I reserved the right to believe they were a bit weird.
One day I was hauling the trash out to the community dumpster, and the dad asked what I was doing that weekend, trying to make small talk. I told him we were headed to Goshen (IN, where I grew up) to help my Mom move into the new house she had just bought. The Bible thumping dad then launched into a two minute free association ramble on Moses and the Land of Goshen. I had a hard time keeping a poker face while he did this.
When he finished, I said, “Well, it shouldn’t take us 40 years to get the job done.”
I’m s’posed to be having the first skype conference regarding the charity I’m a trustee for tomorrow, which may be a little interesting. For a start only about half the people involved have ever used skype before, including my parents, who aren’t sure if it’s actually set up on the computer. I have used it before, but not on my laptop, and I don’t actually currently own a microphone. The email that was supposed to be sent out a few weeks back with confirmation of the time, and everyone’s details does not appear to have been sent, and I can only find three of the 6 people on there. Of those three, one is my cousin, who’s official babby due date is this sunday, and one of the others is her husband…
Congrats Apes! You deserve a whole box of Honey Bunches of Oats with ice cream!
HEE BBBobbio!
Nuts that sounds like it could be, well, nuts.
Home from the “emergency” meetin’. It boiled down to staff needs permission from the board to go out and find a new sub-grantee to administer Workforce Investment funds and get the new sub-grantee approved by December 1. I foresee a looooooooooooooooong meetin’ to discuss sub-grantees in my near future. Yeah, I’m livin’ the life.
Yea, not having to go to meetings which take more time and effort than they are worth to accomplish nothing is one of things I have grown to love about working from home. I do have mandatory webinars and conference calls, but I can mute those and just beep in whenever my name is called while getting other things done at the same time. I wish meetings never existed. I don’t understand their point:confused:
I originally read this on my phone; I guess because of the small screen, the “o” looked like a “c”. That certainly changes the meaning of what you were craving.
I have a Dependent FSA (but no medical FSA). They sent me a debit card - it was declined at the care center.
Ummm, this is the only place I’d used it. Whydja bother to take the time & expense to send me the thing if you’re not going to allow me to use it?
I drilled holes for knobs on the doors of the Tanganyika tank stand under the Adult Supervision of Mrs. Plant v.3.0.
Which caused the Shellies, Julies and Calvus (Calvi?) to cease their mutual combat, and scream as one, “OMG, what is that fool doing now?”
I currently need to go to bed yet I am still sitting here. I seem to have this problem on a regular basis…
Today was good, though, I got some stuff done that was looming around for awhile and I’m happy about that. I’m not sure what tomorrow entails, probably homework or somesuch.
Today I baked banana bread using Splenda for baking. It turned out pretty delicious, if I do say so. I just tried a piece.
On the health plan/doctor front, the health plan gave me a doctor’s office near by and I called this afternoon to make an appointment for next month. I wanted to know a bit more about the office, though, so did some searching online. The staff did not include an MD, that I could see - it’s nurse-practitioners; I don’t have a problem with that, but are CNP’s able to write 'scripts? What did make me somewhat wary was that it seems to be “new-agey” and employs alternative medicine techniques. I don’t have anything against that either, really, but some of them are a bit out there (chelated therapies, anyone?!). I might be more comfortable with a conventional practice, so I’m going to call the health plan back and see if we can find another practice. Close by, please.
Tomorrow I’m going to make lasagna, a vegatable one with a meaty sauce. laughs I hope that doesn’t sound too bad! Yes, I like vegetable lasagna, but I do like a little meat in the sauce. I’m also using the no-boil noodles, so we’ll see how this turns out.
Yay for tomorrow being FIRDAY, and hope everyone is feeling good for the weekend.
Made it all the way home finally. The parents were very happy to see me. So was my sister when I gave her her present
Went out for a fab meal last night then crashed for 9 hours which I never do. Now imam starving again! Busy day today…gotta go pick up the rental car, go buy a new UK mobile phone as mine crapped out on me then repack and head to the lake district ready for the wedding of the year tomorrow. Fun fun. Happy Friday!
Glad you arrived safely, mmmmmmmmms and I am sure the wedding will be perfect!
It is often said that the UK has a “revolving door” policy when it comes to border control, must be true today because just as one person arrives, another ones leaves. I am off to sunny Budapest today for a weekend with friends! Two of our friends moved over there a few years ago and it’s Julie’s birthday so a bunch of us are flying into Budapest tonight to spend the weekend celebrating with her as she’s been grumbling that she misses out on everyone else’s birthday parties so we thought we’d take a party to her.
I am packed and ready to go, the cats are staying at home for a change and another friend is coming in to feed them for me until I’m home again on Monday night.
Try not to trash the place while I’m gone, and for Og’s sake, use a coaster!
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’. YAWN ‘Tis a pleasant 58 Amurrkin out with a predicted high of 86. Tomorrow in Columbus, Jawja they’re talkin’ a high of 82 which shall be nice. The big weddin’ is at 5:30 with the [del]open bar[/del] reception occurin’ shortly thereafter.
Herbs I here ya. Don 't want any touchy-feely woo medical care either.
Go doggio go!
Glad you arrived safe mmmmmms. Looks like you and me both are attendin’ hitchin’ ups this weekend.
Have a safe trip and a good time BooFae! Ok, y’all heard her, get out the coasters!
Now I need more caffiene and rumbly tummy wants to be fed. Then, alas and alack, irk purtification must commence. Oh well, 'tis Firday.
I am pissed. I got a phone call last night during dinner that my bidness trip will not happen as planned. Maybe happen mid week, or more likely NEXT weekend. This is the third time the schedule has slipped, and I’m getting quite annoyed about it.
Herbs, yes a nurse practitioner can write prescriptions. My last two ‘doctors’ that prescribe my crazy pills for me have both been NPs. I kinda prefer them, actually.
Good morning, everyone! I’m feeling a little tired and blah today. Probably the fact that it is dismal and rainy out isn’t helping. Nonetheless, I’m going to find at least one homework assignment and complete it today. And then… I have no idea what else. Maybe work a little bit on one of my two sewing projects. Do I know how to live it up, or what??
BBBobbio I’d be all poed too. Here you are expectin’ to get sandy eggos and they keep puttin’ it off. The noive!
I may make this an early day. I figure I’m owed it for pain and sufferin’ in the form of an evenin’ meetin’. Plus it’s quiet. Really, really, quiet. It’ll either stay like this or all hell will break loose.
Up. Not yet caffeinated. Trying to get used to my old, really out-dated prescription since Mouse decided that my relatively-new glasses were just the thing to soothe his teething pains. >.<
These old glasses are weird in more ways than one, but the biggest weirdness is that I can close my left eye and there is ABSOLUTELY NO DIFFERENCE in my vision. Also, ugly, lol. I am not sure that they’re really better than nothing, but I guess mono-vision is better than Furryworld.
