Was it someone from HR trying to get you to make up hours from yesterday?
I dunno, Sticky; isn’t purple your signature color? ::cue ominous coincidence music::
I’ve been up for a while and have had breakfast but haven’t done much else. Still without voice, which is really annoying. Am ingesting lots and lots of fluids and trying to keep things humidified.
Off to surf and knit some more.
Hugs all.
GT
Ha!
This is going on someone’s Permanent Record!
:dubious:
[Admiral Kirk]What does HR need with a purple monkey?[/Admiral Kirk]
Flytrap, that won’t even make the Top 100 on my Permanent Record.
Bathroom and kitchen are clean, chorizo burritos are et, time for dog pooping. Maybe some chatting later.
We’ve breakfasted and shopped. **FCD **is in his workshop doing man stuff. I’m thawing a hunk o’beef so I can make beef-veggie soup. I was going to buy stew meat, but Walmart didn’t have any, and their steaks were $6-$11 per pound - I’m not chopping up meat of that quality and tossing it into soup. Instead, I found a hunk of roast that will do nicely, as soon as it’s thawed enough to be cut.
It’s supposed to be a mild day - I see windows being opened this afternoon. Yay!
You’re a tougher man than I.
the Hunks have left and now my LR/DR is all empty and appealing
Major insomnia lately, with caffeine intake at normal or below. Even OTC sleep aids (melatonin, diphenhydramine) aren’t helping.
Good morning everyone!
So I began this day late as I had stayed up watching episodes of the British comedy series Doc Martin on the DVR until 4am, then got in the car and snuck over to Mom’s and gave her cat a Sharpie to play with.
At some point today I will roll my post count to the big 'ole 1000, not bad for a guy who intended to stay more lurker than poster. I’ll try to make it a point to do it on the MMP if I remember.
Last night joined friends at the Double T Diner here in Annapolis. One of the fellows is a man who taught me the rudiments of Blacksmithing back in my high school days. He runs a booth at the MD Renn Fair which is near where I live. I had not seen him in over a decade, it was very nice!
Howdy Y’all! Home from the big weddin’ doin’s. It was a really nice wedding and reception. We did imbibe a bit much so it was good to have a DD to get us back to the hotel. We crashed and this mornin’ enjoyed a nice, hot complimentary brekkie. Then we packed up and came back down to the swamp. OYKW is at his place to get some laundry done and I should be doin’ the same but haven’t started yet. Ima go to his place late this afternoon so we can go dine at that place of epicurean delight known as Three Squares Diner.
Ok, laundry time.
We had a busy, busy, busy day yesterday.
We took my husband’s car down for a tune up and oil change and couple of little things. A couple of hours we picked it up and swapped it out for my rig, stopped at the grocery store on the way home, tidied up the house, prepared dinner for us and our friends, and entertained the rest of the day and evening.
This morning I picked my rig up. It hurt to write that check and I’m not done yet. We initially took my rig in for an oil change and tune up, and I wanted my brakes checked. They wouldn’t do the tune up because of the type of engine I have in my Expedition, so I have to take it to the dealership for that. They did change the oil. However, my front struts were shot, as were the bearings. Total bill was well over 1800 bucks.
I need tires and I need them badly. However, it’ll have to wait until next weekend. So, next Saturday, or maybe Friday if I don’t have to work my RDO, I’ll head on down to Les Schwab for tires.
The weekend after that, I’ll try and get a tune up at the dealership. So, I’ve spent quite a bit of money so far, but in the end, it’s cheaper than five years of car payments. I only have 72,000 miles on the rig, and I want to go two or three years without a car payment.
My daughter and her sweetie are supposed to come down some time today and we’re going to take them to dinner. She got some bad news this week and found out she will be out of a job in two weeks. Some people bought out the insurance company she works at, so now she’s on the hunt for a job again. She thought she had another couple of months, so she’s stressing about it.
I’ve got the dishwasher going and I need to start some laundry too.
Something similar here. Decided my weekly soup would be beef stew, as that’s something MrTao will actually eat as well. Not that I have any problem polishing off gallons of soup myself during the week; it’s easy lunch and, since I made it, I like it!
But yeah, finding meat for soup was just, ugh. Got a pair of jeans from Walmart, and they were less than the meat chunk, and I got the cheapest meat I could find. >.< Ah well; it will be good soup
Up, working on the caffeination; cats are in the yard alone today, even let BigCat into the front yard, since his sister was teasing him from out there. He’s doing ok so far, new grass to munch and all.
Working on cleaning stored winter clothes, yay! And of course, since I am doing this, the thermometer is moving upwards, lol. Still, shouldn’t be much past the 90’s this week, and I can definitely live with that.
Wedding was fab and there were some delicate people this morning at breakfast
Bride looked beautiful and a good time was had by all. Back home at the parents and contemplating dinner…
**Tugig **- I know that diner!! We’ve eaten there several times. Our go-to used to be Chick and Ruth’s, but since Teddy took over, we don’t like it as much. When the bowls of dill slices disappeared, we knew the delly we knew and loved was gone. Stoopit Teddy.
**Taters **- I know what you’re going thru with keeping your rig. We did the same with my Aerostar - we’d paid it off in 4 years, then kept it running for 9 more years, selling it with just over 231K miles. By the time we sold it, we’d already paid off its replacement vehicle - my Scion. Payment-free is very nice.
I spent an hour in my studio, finishing the assembly of another tape dispenser. It’s sprayed down and covered in the damp cabinet - I’ll take it out to dry in a couple of days. I may or may not work on the penguin spoon rests today. We’ll see.
Meanwhile, the soup is starting to simmer - it’s beef, onions, and celery at the moment, with some burgundy. In a couple of hours, I’ll add the carrots and N.O.T.s, then a little after that, I’ll toss in some corn, peas, green beans, and barley. I should probably add the bayleaf now. And maybe a little garlic. Off to the kitchen again!
Been totin’ the barge and lifting the bale meself this weekend. Much clutter has fallen to Freecycle or the dump. Maybe I’ll have room to start my railroad after, oh, 20 years of grumping about VWife’s sewing piles.
Another work week has started… With the next paid day off being Passover (well, unless the elections really do get pushed up to Jan. 22… We’ll see tomorrow.)
In other words, blurf.
nap time
Last load of laundry will be done dryin’ soon. It’s towels and such that just need to be folded and put away. Then, I shall head over to OYKW’s place and our adventure in haute cuisine. Maybe I’ll have their house sallit, hamburger steak with mushroom 'n onion gravy and smashed N.O.T. served with Texas toast. The ulitmate in elegant dining is it not?
**swampy **- just don’t tuck the tablecloth into your collar!!
House is starting to smell souperrific!!!
I don’t see why not! Why waste a perfectly good piece of cloth when it could be catching all the drippings right at the source.
