Yep, I’ll be watching it. I love a bit of pomp and circumstance.
Nah. While I am a bit of an anglophile, I have very little interest in the whole thing. In fact I keep thinking it’s over, as people keep saying it’s “coming up” but it never seems to come heh
I’m not against it or pissed about it tho. Not sure why people get upset about it, or get mad that others enjoy it. I say if you’re in to pomp & circumstance, then this is IT for you! Get excited!
I won’t be tuned in except for as I might be surfing by the channel. If something great takes place and hits the news, I might switch over. Then again, anything of consequence will be rebroadcast endlessly. Correct that. The whole thing will be rebroadcast endlessly.
It is coming on the telly at 3 am here, which is about the time I get up to pee, so I may turn on the telly and catch part of it while i go back to sleep.
I’m going to record a few hours of the coverage and watch it Friday night, fast forwarding through to see the parts that interest me. I haven’t really seen or heard too much about the wedding, so I’m not sick of it yet.
Probably it won’t be as much fun as the Royal Wedding dance video.
I can’t even imagine why anyone not directly connected with either family would watch.
My wife is planning on waking our daughter up so they can watch.
I, of course, will make sure the DVR-thingy is set as well.
When Diana died, I stayed up the entire night recording the funeral and the stuff leading up to it (had to use VCR tapes all those years ago, in 1998). Fortunately, thanks to the miracle of hard-drive technology, I won’t have to do that
I am currently on holiday in Iceland. We came here specifically to avoid the wedding. We have seen no mention of it since we have been here.
We are both British.
I thought it had already happened. But no.
No. I’ll ignore it as far as possible. Well, unless anything interesting happens, perhaps an invasion of runaway tigers or something.
I will see the bits I am exposed to on the news, since I am following the Canadian Election quite avidly. I have already seen more royalty coverage than I can stand. The CBC loves the Monarchy.
In all fairness to the monarchy I used to be merely disinterested, but my maternal grandfather diedAugust 31 1997 and after that I have gone from disinterst to dislike for the modern monarchy.
(I am still fascinated by the Plantagenets, Yorks and Tudors)
There was something on the news about Londoners getting out of town this week to avoid the crowds of tourists coming into the city.
Just imagine how nuts it must be in every hotel, restaurant and pub in London this week. Wow.
Oh yes, and another news item about how Will and Kate have to be happy and have to stay married, or else the monarchy will fall apart (because the royal family sets an example for the ideal British family or some such). So no pressure, kids!
I would only hope that my not watching might bring them good luck.
(My not having been invited merely grants them good taste.)
Who are you? Confess!
I assume that is a joke, but I could be wrong.
At any rate, yes, indeed, I am going to watch it, and watch it live. I plan on a good nap after work, and intend to be settled in front of the telly by 11:00 p.m. I have booked the next day off work so I can stay up all night long…
In 1981, my teenaged self, my mum and my best friend watched Charles and Diana’s wedding, staying up all night, drinking endless tea, playing cards until it started. It is still one of my best memories of both those women. My mother is dead, and the best friend and I parted ways a long time ago, as well.
So, for old time’s sake, I will be watching. My husband thinks it’s completely silly, of course, and I don’t think there is as much hoopla as there was back in 1981. Of course, then Diana just came out of nowhere, and the media went wild. Kate’s been in William’s life for what, eight years now? There is a big difference in the two sets of couples.
A large part of me, watching back then, was enthralled. Diana was just a few years older than me, and the wedding was so fabulously rich in pageantry, tradition, and romance.
Now, we all know the romance was false. But, it was a lovely wedding…
This time, I will be watching as a much different woman, one with a husband of my own. This time, though, I will feel sorry for Kate Middleton, for she is marrying into a life that would drive me mad in two weeks flat. And I think she does love her prince. And I think he loves her.
And I will watch them, and I will bawl like a baby, and love every damned minute of it.
I’ll Tivo it and watch the good parts, for only one reason: Every time I turn on the news there’s more depressing crap going on around the world. It’ll be somewhat healing to watch something positive, even if it’s totally remote from my life.
Also, for old time’s sake, and I do mean old. I watched the queen’s coronation in 1953, on our little b&w Zenith with a round screen. I don’t mind watching these things every 58 years or so.
You left out “HELL NO!!! Not even if it were the only channel my TV got that night, GAAAAAAAAAAAAAH help me!!!” (runs away screaming).
I can’t think of anything more boring, except maybe golf.
I won’t be watching. Too early in the morning my time. I’ll probably read a summary online later.
Cricket.
No, it will not be watched by me; on that day work will be performed by me.
And even if that day off was enjoyed by me, weddings - royal and otherwise - are not found the least bit interesting by me.
mmm
