The Rudolph Special is on this Friday!

It just isn’t Christmas without that show, commercials and all. Woo hoo!

… and I forgot the link to CBS’s write-up on it.

Someday I’ll get that reindeer for what he did to me in Guatemala back in '86.

I’ll get him, and that little red nose of his, too …

This thread needs a link to the SDMB’s own holiday tradition.

Notice, by the way, who wrote the OP. <sniff>

I can’t wait. I love the misfit toys.

That elf that’s wants to be a dentist always gave me the creeps though.

Thanks for the link, Truth Seeker. Hard to believe that was two years ago-- I remembered debating Hermey’s name as I was writing this OP.

BUMBLES BOUNCE!

Hooray!! I missed Charlie Brown this year - I was called away on a family emergency. But I will watch Rudolf.

Ever since I was a child I thought the Rudolph special was very vaguely creepy. What is it? Not a cartoon, not claymation exactly, just what in the world is it?!?!

I just caught the ‘Robbie the Reindeer’ shows that were on last night. They have immediately leapt several light years past that “vaguely creepy” Rudolph show in terms of my sense of entertainment. Do yourself a favour…find out if anyone near you is showing ‘Robbie’ the reindeer shows…they are hilarious…and appear to be the bastard children of Wallace and Gromit.

It’s “Animagic.” Stop-motion animation with puppets.

FYI, according to my tv listings here in Chicago, Charlie Brown will be replayed this friday. At 8 pm central, I think, but I’m not sure. Consult your local listings.

Tonight’s the night, baby!

And after the Red One, stay tuned for what CaptEgo mentioned. Making his first major American appearance is the BBC’s Robbie the Reindeer, the son of you-know-who, in two British clay specials: Hooves of Fire and The Legend of the Lost Tribe. The American versions feature a new voice cast including Ben Stiller, Brad Garrett, and Britney Spears, among others. Look for him tonight after Rudolph on CBS.

I saw the program when it airred the first time in 1964.

Mrs. Duckster bought the DVD for me this Christmas.

Gonna watch it on TV this year.

Here too! Thanks for letting me know!

:frowning: I always manage to miss it. Goddamnit…But I think we have it on tape, back from when I was six or seven. At least I hope so.

I do a mean “Charlie-In-The-Box” impression.

But it’s Linus’s Bible recitation that gets the Christmas season started for me.

I have a new holiday favorite: Robbie the Reindeer! What a damn hoot! I wish I could see it with the original British voice cast, but the US version was still cool. Just the right mix of jaded attitude and seasonal joy.

[Off Topic]Does anyone know if “Olive, The Other Reindeer” will be on this year?[/Off Topic]
