Wow, thanks everyone, this is working great, keep it coming and put out the word. Thanks for referencing Nomic, Scuba Ben, BTW… I knew I had run into this idea before…
Jumping in late but I just saw this thread.
I’m a little confused about how the “rules” work. I would have assumed that each poster has to follow the set of rules that exist at the time he is making his post. But that’s clearly not the case: if it were than “1) No rules can be changed” in the OP would have prevented anyone else from changing a rule.
So we can announce a rule whose legality is established by the rule itself. What prevents any of us from simply posting a rule declaring we’ve won the game and every other rule before or after our post is invalid? Of course somebody else can come along and post a rule saying that that rule is invalid so their rule (which declares the other rule invalid) is valid - and they’re the real winner. In fact, everyone can post that their post contains the only valid rule and all rules posted by other people are invalid.

Happy to help. I used to play in Agora, and recalled when they attempted to make other nomics into protectorates. So I looked up the old game – it’s still going on, and has been for 18 years – and did my best to make this a protectorate. I notified Agora, and they told me they recently readopted the Ambassador, so protectorates may come back.
I don’t see the rules changes by Annie or shijinn. On preview, I see that Annie is objecting to making this an Agoran protectorate. AOP2: I see Annie changed rule 8. Her two changes and shijinn’s post (I still haven’t found the change) are in violation of rule 11. Do I have to implement a dispute resolution system?
ETA: Complying with r3, I must add a rule.

- Any poster who has previously made a rule change in this game may Call For Judgment (CFJ) on any dispute related to this game. A CFJ consists of posting a statement which can be logically evaluated to TRUE or FALSE. The next player to take a turn must decide whether the statement is TRUE or is FALSE; if TRUE, the player must post a remedy that can be carried out in-game.
