Me too, although just where depends on what day it is.
Oh no. Poor guy.
Don’t have his address, but I did send him a coupla texts, ending with “Sending u virtual chicken soup” which is as obliquely flirty as it gets.
… if y’all only knew the number of times I’ve heard him casually remark on how he, and I’m quoting directly, “never knows when a girl is interested.”
Dude. No kidding!
Ah, well. It’s harmless, flirty fun as far as I’m concerned.
Well. WAS. Stoopit 'Rona. Ruining all my fun!
swampy, I don’t keep sweet treats around the house for the same reason. I don’t have sense enough to stop.
metal mouse, the last time I was there, DQ had a pretty good double cheeseburger. Up in Indiana, some of them even have decent breaded tenderloin sandwiches.
sunny, Nelson could write the forward to Akiko’s book.
Glad your son is OK plantdoc.
Irked, came home, etc. We’re doing the big migration of systems at irk tonight / tomorrow, so most folks are getting sent home early / coming in at a later hour. My area actually has a backlog, given that they didn’t cover Covid Mary during her two week absence. Normally, we would have had it caught up by the end of next week, but that doesn’t fit the time frame, so we’re getting three extra people tomorrow. The blueberries (yes, we have them too) were sent home at noon today, not to return until Monday.
Stay safe and healthy y’all!

GG’s mama is Raven and his sire is Tilden.
I hope Beemer recovers quickly and easily, any surgery is scary, eye surgery would be pretty terrifying.
Couldn’t you just take a Computer Based Training like everyone else? You overachievers make the rest of us look bad!!! I’m glad it worked out, hands have so many easy to cut nerves close to the surface.
I was going to retire with full benefits and then about 6 months before retirement, I figured out that I would only lose a couple of dollars a month by retiring early, so that’s what I did.
No eye candy for two weeks, however will you go on!?!? Hopefully he will have an easy recovery and few symptoms.
Do you get jealous of folks who can nap? Hubs can tick me off at times, when he wants a nap it’s like he flips a switch he goes out so quickly.
I went to surplus produce and oh my goodness. There was a flat of BIG heirloom tomatoes, a bag of potatoes, a bunch of grapefruit, 4 large stalks of broccoli, a bag of carrots, some turnips and a bunch of bell peppers. When I took my leftovers to the office, Lois had to make two trips with the cart to get everything inside.
It was 54F at lunch and we got snowed on and then we got hailed on. It was slushing when we left, weird weather as usual.
One of our mutual friends is a singer in a punk rock band and decorates in black and purple with skulls and such. She has just moved houses and wants to have a Victorian drawing room and of course has nothing but a fancy silver tea tray. While I was sorting my stash, I unearthed some old pieces that I won’t ever put out again and had pretty much forgotten about.
I’m going to give our friend this pillow from my Victorian period:
The lacy appearance around the rose is called pulled work, you pull the threads tight to warp the fabric. I used to do a lot of drawn work as well, that’s where you actually cut the fabric threads and pull them out to make a lacy pattern.
I registered for the seminar but couldn’t sign up for my class so I called them for help. Because it was the first day AND because they were having issues with the website not allowing people to sign up for classes nobody was able to get back to me until today. The nice but frustrated sounding lady said the website was nothing but bugs and that it wasn’t just me being stoopid.
The nice lady said she was going to have to do a bunch of techy stuff and would call me in the morning. I sure hope my class doesn’t fill up before she can get it fixed. It’s a really pretty piece and I’ll bet it’s a popular class.
Hubs was washing his beer buckets and left the door open. I need to go help dry off our idiot cat, have a great night everyone.
A whole website of pretty kitties, but Raven’s especially gorgeous.
We loaded the stuff we’ll need tomorrow into my car. Breakfast stop enroute, and with luck, we’ll get home in the early afternoon.
Meanwhile, I baked some brownies, because. They should be done shortly. Ta!!!
Evening all. Big bowl of Sallit is happily digesting and exercise has been accomplished, so a pretty good day. Have a list of stuff to get from Wal-Mart tomorrow, and swimmin’ is part of the plan, so for me, a busy day–except it’s supposed to rain for most of it.
Nice stitchwork, unknown. And I was like you, I planned to work until I was 65, but putting all the numbers together and I went out at 63 without losing all that much.
shoe, I can sympathize with the guy, I never knew either (or had the nerve to ask)–been a bachelor these many moons…
FCM, not another surgery; the poor guy is a pincushion.
Sari, I’d be scared too if I got those type of messages from my bank; sounds like somebody typed the wrong code in the system and you weren’t the only one affected.
Oopsie, glad things have worked out for your show. Go get’em!
All y’all Northwest folks; I’ll try to get organized and let you know by PM. Also have some other friends (from earlier in my life) out that way, so need to plan things.
OK, need to put the dishes away from the dishwasher and get about things. Take care all.
What a day.
Our Admin got an email she thought might be phishing, and she shared it with some of us. Some of us agreed it was phishing (without opening attachments). One person did open the attachments, and it turned out to be legit.
Company A is applying for credit with Company B, and offered Company C as a reference. The email was from Company B to us, requesting a credit reference from Company C. We don’t do that. Company B needs to contact Company C to get Company C’s login information for our credit reference system. The problem is that we’ve been ghosted by Company C. No usable data since June month-end, and no data at all since September. The only email address we have for them is a generic A/R one, and they never reply. So Company B will either need to contact Company C (somehow), or else they’ll have to buy a credit report from us. Spent half the day on this shite.
I heated up some Trader Joe’s gyro meat in a frying pan, and we put it on heated low-carb whole wheat tortillas with my homemade tzatziki and some feta. I was going to have two, but decided I’d get a piece of salmon crack instead. Might have some Chinese BBQ pork with hot mustard too.
Pretty Kitties! Also a pretty pillow.
When my kids were growing up and I was working and mothering and such for long hours, I used to dream of having whole days to laze around. Now I feel like I’m going to scream if I have to spend one more day horizontal. I walked out to get the mail, about 175 feet. My back isn’t happy. Since when did it get to run the show?
Today’s excitement was the maintenance guy coming to change a ceiling light bulb. I can’t reach them, even with my little stepladder, and the complex worries about liability, I guess, and has asked us not to. While he was here, he heard the little dog downstairs cry, cry, cry, as the poor thing does all day long when her people are gone, and he said he’d tell the manager.
I can nap, but I hate the grogginess afterward, and it messes up my internal clock so I often can’t get to sleep at night. I am envious of people like your hubs, though, and my sister, who lie down, sleep immediately, and pop up fully alert.
Oh, my word, that cushion is GORGEOUS. Once again I admire your incredible talent. Speaking of gorgeous, clearly George is descended from beautiful cats.
red, you have blueberries, too? I had no idea that was a common term.
Mooom, I’m appalled that FCD has to have yet another back surgery. How does he keep his spirits up? Oh, wait, he has YOU!
Me too, metal mouse.
I finally got paid the deposit on my next project, but the designs have changed so much that the deposit is woefully thin. They keep adding things, and time is still going in the normal direction. But, getting a cash influx is needed at this point. Working the stuff I do, I don’t have a regular paycheck, they kinda come when there’s gigs.
You can’t just drop that here and then leave us waiting. We needs to hear about how you make it and when and how you cook it and everything cause we is nosy that way!!!
The breeder is in Tucson and gives his cats crew cuts when it heats up. She looked like a black panther and she was as sweet as could be. GG’s sire was also very sweet but he tripped over his tail when he spun around because there was a bird outside the window.
Gormless George’s pic is on the webpage. He’s easy to pick out, all the other kittens are attentive and involved, GG is the one looking all “Wait, what, is something going on? Is that a chipmunk out there?”
I never planned to stick it out to 65, I was state and already had 79 of the 80 points I needed. I get a small check from the feds and a slightly larger (but not large) check from the county but most of my money comes from the state. I was waiting until I was 62 because we would be in the red if I couldn’t pull anything but my state retirement until then.
It takes a special sort of person to be a food stamp eligibility worker and I was not one of them. I walked out in the middle of my shift and have no regrets.
The pillow. How my tastes have changed over time. I was SO proud of it when I was done. I made the satin pillow and ruffles, hand sewed on the lace, ribbon, lace and hand made beading (that’s the fabric covered cording). There is a lot of hand seed bead work going on that probably doesn’t show up. I probably spent a good 300 hours on it, just to toss it in a box and forget about it. I must say it is a tribute to using quality materials, it is at least 35 years old and nothing is fraying or fading.
When I pulled it out of the box, all I could think was “needs more cowbells”. I’ll probably lace a rose colored ribbon through the outer edge of the pulled work and tie a bow under the rose.
I don’t feel as though I am talented. I couldn’t ever design a nice piece like that and I require clear instructions and a good pattern. All the rest is practice.
But seriously, thank you all for the kind words. Like any master craftsperson, I live for praise!
I’m so glad you got a little money, you mentioned overdue bills. Is your work seasonal? Not wanting to pry into your financial business, but as an ex-food stamp worker I could suggest that you look into them when work is slim. Food stamp workers might also know of a business that needs cabinets and such.
Last year a water main in front of our yard broke and they sent a crew out to dig it up and fix it. That was the most excitement I’d had in a month and I SUPERVISED like only a bored old fart can do.
Holy bazongas, those are some heart-meltingly beautiful kittehs. I would happily steal half of them … especially Raven, she is insanely gorgeous.
I’m wondering the same.
{ invites self over to FCM }
I’d even be willing to clean and change a poopy butt/diaper!
Well, maybe something good will come out of this.
Yeah.
Fuck those people.
They probably poop perfectly, shirts are never wrinkled, or have cat/dog hair on them, and I bet their dishes wash themselves & taxes magically come together (with a refund!) in advance.
Oh, hush with that nonsense.
George is a tuxie? (I’m looking at the Past Cats and Kittens page.) I’ve always thought he was all-black like his mama.
nelliebly, sorry your back is running the show, but better it than a certain other body part. Link is safe.
Heaved, napped. Go woken up twice. Once by somebody wanting but skritches, and once by somebody horking on the living room carpet.
Well, they were free, so a little cash outlay isn’t bad.
Same to you!
Yes, he’s a tux with cute white feets and belly.
You probably thought he was all black because VBC has a lot of white and most of their pics now are two cats as one:
I am really laughing about you being able to find him by looking for the gormless one!
You did say he’d be the kinda doofus-looking one.
Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave.
Conjoined cats: you’re doing it right.
