Wow, Skynet got really good at miniaturization. They had to stuff the first terminator into Arnold Shugganuggie, and now they can put one into a 65lb girl? Amazing.
I plan to watch. Casting looks good, just hope the actor playing John Connor isn’t a dud. I am really hoping it turns out to be magically delicious.

So, not reading the spoiler, is the series set in the 1990s?
Well, some people would consider the answer to that question, and any light elaboration on it, to be a spoiler…

Actually, Summer Glau is quite convincing as a Terminator-Lite. Her slightly off/alien looks helps.
Now, I only need a girl-on girl fight with her and Kristana Lokkan and I’ll be in mah bunk
That’s another reason I don’t care to watch the show. I burned out on the hot-magical-chick-who-kicks-ass many years ago.
FWIW, the show pretends that the third movie never happened, which is probably a good thing.

Ah, the advantages of parallel universes…
3 movies is beaten to death?
Or by “a while back” do you mean it was beaten to death at T2?
Not a fan of Batman, Spiderman, Superman, X-Men, Die Hard, Pirates of the Carribbean then?

Considering that there was only one good movie in each of those franchises, I think you’ve just proved MGibson’s point for him.

I’m with you, I’m totally sick of the “tiny little hot chick who can kick everyone’s ass” cliche. Ooooohh, it’s so surprising and clever, because it’s like, she’s a girl, and traditionally girls aren’t supposed to be deadly killing machines, so it’s all subversive and pro-feminist and turns all kinds of conventions on their heads! And she’s HOT too, so it’ll appeal to all the guys in the audience also. I smell big bucks! Whoooooo!
Lame.

Is it a cliché? It might be we’re at a time where it’s down to “it can be a man or a woman - choose one.” In this case, they chose a woman because of whatever marketability or casting angle they thought appropriate.

It’s also worth pointing out that Summer Glau can really, actually ]act. Honest. In Firefly, she made River Tam into a remarkably believable character, especially considering the gibberish dialog that she had to make sound less-than-hokey. Plus - yah, hot.

Plus she’s the first action girl I think is convincing in a fight scene. Just watch Serenity. I mean she trained as a gymnast or ballerina or something so…
Ballerina.
I loved Serenity but the character of River was my least favorite part of it. Like I said, I hate the cliche. It was even worse in that movie because she always went about in bare feet and delicate-looking clothing - “oooh, she’s just a poor sweet innocent harmless defenseless little girl…but ACTUALLY she’s a KILLING MACHINE!” I don’t know, I guess I don’t have a lot of company in hating these kind of characters but I just don’t like them.
Yeah the River mystery was good at first but I almost think Firefly would have been better without her. Towards the end of the season the episodes seemed like they were only about River.
So, I’m pretty intrigued.
Supposedly, Summer Glau is a Terminator sent back to protect John Connor.

I don’t get this. OK, many dudes liked Firefly. Cool. So, why does than mean all those dudes must watch and like anything with any member of the Firefly cast in it? ![]()

Because we’re fans?
(**fan ** /fæn/

an enthusiastic devotee, follower, or admirer of a sport, pastime, celebrity, etc.: a baseball fan; a great fan of Charlie Chaplin.

What’s so hard to understand about that? ![]()

Err, yes because they were.
She was the central character.

Several months ago the pilot was leaked, probably deliberately, onto the torrent scene.
