Supposedly, Summer Glau is a Terminator sent back to protect John Connor.
I’m not sure where or how this fits into the whole trilogy, but as a fan of the franchise, I’ll be checking it out this Sunday.
When I first heard about it, I thought that it was a piece of junk to plug in because of the writer’s strike, but it’s been in production for a couple years now. For me, no TV show is going to get by on special effects or action sequences, though.
I’m hoping there’s something to the characters and storyline. Not holding out a lot of hope for that, but we’ll see.
Anyone else looking forward to it? FOX has always been a littler better at promoting their sci-fi than other networks, so there’s that.
Their Tivo promotion pissed me off though. We were able to download the pilots of shows like Bionic Woman and Chuck. So yesterday I see a new Tivo option for something like “Preview Sarah Connor Chronicles.” I eagerly selected it but all it did was take me to the screen where I could schedule a season pass. No preview at all, not even a short clip.
The show is initially set 2-3 years after T2 (John is said to be 15). Sarah, John and Cameron (Glau’s character) end up jumping forward to 2007 at the end of the pilot episode, thus bypassing Terminator 3 and establishing TSCC as a different continuity from the films.
No. There comes a point where a franchise has been beaten to death and Terminator reached that point a while back. I don’t want to reward Fox for being unoriginal so I’m going to avoid watching this show.
Actually, the first episode is way better than T3 and sticks better with the continuity from T1+T2, without having to retcon too much.
It’s tv, so production values aren’t as high, but the storytelling is certainly a lot better than T3.
I mean, it’s not groundbreaking or anything, but with the damn strike, it’s not as if there’s a lot of first run tv to watch and it’s certainly on par with most of the other new shows of the season.
The Terminator movies had a nice little story to tell and they told it. Terminator was a self-contained story but the sequel was also pretty good. Terminator 3 was completely unnecessary, didn’t add anything to the franchise, and wasn’t a very good movie for that matter. So far as I’m concerned they told their story and it’s time to move on to other things.
That’s just my take on it. If you happen to enjoy the show that’s ok. Though it’s on Fox so I might not grow too attached.
