The SDMB Chill-Out Lounge

Gee, sometimes it’s nice to be a clueless newbie!

I was going to ask for a drink, but I haven’t been over to the Pit, and from the sound of it you guys need the drinks more than I do. What’ll it be?

< techchick walks back in the door with a case of Molson Ice >

Ah, it’s nice and cool in here – sheesh it’s hot in the September sun!

Any one know where they nearest pool is?

I’m not going to tell you how bad today was. No.

Just give me the whole bottle of Bombay Sapphire this time. Got that extra-ginormous bottle of Schweppes tonic there too? Thanks.

yojimbo and Coldfire–I’m ready to hear some Rush again (haven’t heard any since my tape player ate Chronicles :(). I’ll bring over some of my obscure Canadian music–especially my Eric’s Trip CD in which Rick and Julie slag off The Tea Party for leaving their drums on the stage!!

::Stretches out on top of a table::

Who’s DJing? I brought my David Sylvian CD for some additional musical soothing, unless we’re beyond that.

Oh, and I’d love a frozen Goldschlager, if one’s available.

Oh, my, God. I read through this last night, on my way to the Pit, and read this lounge, so I checked out Freak’s meltdown. I had read that post when it first when up, but then left, not thinking of what would come of it.

And to top it all off, I just got back from the troll thread, and man, all I can say is that I have newfound respect for the mods. I think that, as artwork above the lounge’s bar, we should get a painting of all the Dopers in that thread valiently fending off an oncoming horde of ugly, smelly, moronic trolls. Truly a heroic picture.

But for now, I just need a drink, and an overstuffed chair, and some discussion.

Oh, I almost forgot. <raises glass> To Wally!

:Silo turns the lights down low:

:It’s pretty chillin’ in here:

:Pssssst, Mr. Cold, pass some of that Amsterdam weed over here :p:

:Good stuff, my man, good stuff!:

:Silo blows pot smoke at Techie:

you can borrow one of my dogs or a teddy bear, which will it be? (I’d recomend the bear, it won’t try to drink your drink for you…)

sits, sighs, rescues freezer vodka from nearby table

so, how’s everyone else?

Another long and harsh day fighting ignorance - this time, it fought back quite fiercely!

Norman, looking forward to down a few beers with you in Dublin. Duke, Micilin, and all the other Euro-trash attending: goes for yous guys as well

My MP3 player just selected Maiden’s “The Evil That Men Do”. Boy, we’ll prove that to the Irish Republic at large :stuck_out_tongue:

Well, hell, why do I always miss the good stuff?

After perusing all that hate and discontent over in the Pit I think it’s time for a Guiness. Come on, guys, have one on me

It’s Guinness, not Guiness! (I felt like another poster there for a second!)

I’m sorry - it goes down so fast I rarely have time to peruse the spelling

so fast - it’s supposed to take ages to pour & then you have to let it stand! jeesh! don’t ya know anything? I don’t even like the stuff & I know that…
Oh well, more voddie from the freezer (no waiting required).

Well, this morning things seemed to set off to an even more hectic pace than the last couple of days. Holy Smoke ! but it’s all quietened down now, it seems…

<another large stiff gin later…

So, have the ‘365 posse’ been seen off or is there still more to come ? …personally, I hope thats the end of it. Been very waring.

<…Any ice ?

Giving London a pat on the back . Have a double pal . Your detective work was a major part of why they stopped .

Pity you can’t come over to Dublin next month I’d like to meet the real you .

Thanks! but I dunno, yojimbo. I think the Admins did an awful lot of work behind the scenes.

I have been around some but never been to Ireland and, actually, I’d love to. Definitely next time – if they let Coldie back in the country after the one coming up. I’m very envious of you all. Love to meet all of the Oirish contingent and Coldie, Spiny and co.

Think I might need a beer chaser soon. Absolutely too old for shotguns so pass the stash……………

The Admin. always keep this place cool .

Btw how’s the writing going ?

Just a hobby, really. You know, when you have time. I’m into the whole web site thing at the moment - lots to learn as I’d like it to at least look semi-pro. Graphics, yikes !

I’m thinking on about Dublin. It would be great if i could manage it. Was it the 12th ish of October ?

It is . The 12th is a Thurs. Some of the guys/ladies will be over for that wkend . Myself and John are going to be their local guides . I hope that it will be both educational and fun

It would be great if you could make it. If not we most will probably meet at some stage . I really like these dopefest , really nice to see and talk to the people you’ve been reading , so I intend to try and make a U.K. one at some stage .

Here the thread about it . http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?threadid=37251

Yeah, London, try to make it. That would be the icing on the cake!

(Actually, the icing on the cake would be me having wild monkey sex with that sweet thing that is the lead singer of the Corrs, but you get the idea.)

If that’s not possible, consider that I am in London every few weekends. The next hop over looks like the weekend of the 30th september. If I have some time to spare, I’d love to meet up for a few pints!

Bear in mind, I’m supposed to spend time with my GF in these weekends. But she has to work a lot on weekends too, so I sometimes find myself alone and thirsty

Thanks. I also took a quick look at the B & B options and they seem to start from around £30. – which is bearable. Only problem is it will have to be last minute stuff. But that should be OK, I suppose. Flights and accommodation should be aplenty in mid October ?

I’ll just look for the threads as the time draws nearer.

Coldie, I think I prefer the drummer (kind of weird, I know – might be something to do with pagan rhythms) so we only need someone to handle the fiddle player and we’ve got a party. BTW, I’m moving soon – looking at getting a little country air so things are bloody confused for a few weeks. I’ll talk to you – hopefully – in Dublin about boozing around London. Sounds great !, could see the Spurs at some point ? Been to long for me.
