I think you get more points per million with the top midfielders and average strikers than top strikers/average mids. (Just dropped Scholes coz he’s having a hernia operation on Monday).
In any case, I tend to play a sneaky game of using my transfers to rotate my strikers, squeezing more games per player from the fixture list.

This is a good question. The answer to which involves a late-night cock up. Did you know he never got sent off in ten years at Spurs. Went a whole season once without being booked either, so I believe . . .
I didn’t pick him but does anyone else think that, given the scoring system, you’re probably as well off if your goalkeeper and defenders don’t play. The concession of even one goal puts them on zero points for a match. Spurs 0-0 with Liverpool was their first clean sheet since Christ knows when, so all their defenders would have been losing points hand over fist under this system(this coming from someone with Carr in his side). I reckon that keepers and defenders from all but the top clubs will probably end up with a negative points tally. I went for the strategy of picking a couple of cheap punters who have no chance of playing - we’ll see what happens.
This may be so, but in that case you’re better off with an incredibly cheap player who doesn’t play.
However, look on the Player List for last season’s scores and you’ll find most defenders/keepers do average out to a good few points each over the season, except some notable liabilities.

I’m glad to see Jermaine Pennant’s proving himself while on loan at Leeds–he got three assists last weekend, and thank God or else my fantasy team wouldn’t have scored any points.
