The SDMB is paradoxical....

So, the SD exists to entertain, educate, and, of course to fight ignorance. I finally figured out why “it’s taking longer than we thought!”

How? Well, today I have spent about two hours reading the board (I’m a longtime lurker…). At this point, I can feel my brain shrivelling and frying from being glued to the screen so much. This is causing the paradox of the SDMB: the more I read it, the more fried my brainbox is.

A problem? Of course not! I love reading all these interesting, amusing, (often) beautifully written, witty threads. But, in my case at least, after a long SDMB session, my brain clicks off. So much for fighting ignorance…

Just my little thought.

That’s why it doesn’t pay to lurk! As you can see by my profile, I’ve been a long time lurker too, but only recently have I cast off my training wheels and summoned enough courage to actually post. (You’d think after all that time I’d be able to actually contribute one of those “interesting, amusing, beautifully written, witty threads” you speak of, but alas…)

Anyway, there’s the catch: when you lurk, your brain gets fried. When you post, your brain just simmers… aw yeah.

That’s a very good point. Perhaps I shall shed my lurkerness (or whatever it might be called…)
