The SDMB Weight Loss Club - Part Deux

Curves weight & measure today. 30.25" and 45 lbs gone.

Congrats, Gingy! Looks like that plateau at -41 is ancient history.

norinew, thanks for the words of encouragement! My morning and evening weighings the past two days have all been at or under 176.5, so I’m moving in the right direction again. (This morning I weighed in at 175.0, but I didn’t expect it to be ‘real’ yet. But we’re getting there.)

I’m hoping to be down to my goal of 172 by Dope-A-Ween, which you should come to. It’s near Harpers Ferry, which isn’t in your backyard, but nothing is - and it’s closer to you than most stuff.

La la la, even with my period this week I’m down, la la!

I won’t be anywhere near my goal by then, but I’ll see you there anyway!

Don’t forget a costume! We’re all very festive. Also, JC’s got dogs so if you’re allergic, drug yourself like I do.

Keep your eating for during the par-tay. He’s always got a good spread.

Ginger, we already have costumes selected. I hate to hijack this thread further (although this deals with food, so maybe not much of a hijack), but do you know if there will be enough high-protien, no-sugar, no-white-flour stuff there? Cheeses, meats, veggies and fresh fruits are all fine. If not, perhaps we should bring something? Hubby is not nearly as strict about this diet as I am, but I’ve barely broken it since the first of the year, and don’t intend to start now!

That’s probably something you should ask the man himself. There’s always a lotta carb-stuff, but who knows, this year?

Last week, I bought my first (in a long time!) pair of 34-waist jeans. They fit quite nicely with my now-down-to-the-fifth-notch belt.

Weigh-in yesterday, I’m down to 168.5; only 8.5 lbs left, and then I’m going for a bacon cheeseburger (and a run).

Finally, quick story here. Last May, in what proved to be a catalyst to start my weight-loss and fitness regimen, I ran a 5K race with a coworker. After quickly dropping out and walking about 1/3 of the race, I posted a time of 29:35. Coworker, who’s an army reserve platoon leader and awesomely fit guy, posted a time of 23:14.

Yesterday, we ran another 5K race. I kept him in view the whole time and came in only 30 seconds behind him at 21:22. He posted 20:55. I finished 83rd in a field of 215 people, 33rd out of 89 men aged 30-39.

Yesterday was the first day I realized that I was going to make it. I wore a tight t-shirt and didn’t have to wear a looser shirt over it; I walked with my shoulders back and my head up, and my chest stuck out further than my belly. Every day I think about what I was and what I’ve become. And I love it. Reading this thread has helped me keep on track and know that for every setback I suffered, I had 3 gains…or losses, if you will.

Although I’m still on the diet, and will keep reading and updating, I just thought I’d let you all know that I can see the end of the road. And it looks great.

Aguecheek, that’s great!! I am so happy for you!!

That’s great, Andrew! Congratulations! And here I thought you were going to turn into a blob with your proximity to Tims.

I always get nervous stepping on the scale after a conjugal weekend - we eat out all the time and that’s always a challenge. But I’m down a total of 27# since July 7. My jeans are so baggy, they’ve gone beyond comfy to annoying. I’m going out tonight to find a few pairs of cheap interim jeans.

I’m also thinking of stopping in my Dr office and getting my BP checked. I don’t know how much of an effect this loss will have, but it should make some difference, right?

Next mini-goal - 3# away.

1/3 point to goal - 6# away.

Go me!

Cool beans!

I seem to be in the 175.0 - 175.5 neighborhood these days. Creepin’ along, compared to most people, but it’s working for me.

And WTG, Aguecheek and FCM!

Today I went to buy some clothes suitable to wear to Mass performances. I tried things on. They were too big for me.

This is something I haven’t felt in awhile, and I like it.

WTG, Gingy!

Hey!

Yeah, you may remember me from the first few pages of this thread. I’m back to being really determined. I’m on WW, by the way.

Here’s my question: Especially with my workload this semester, every second is precious. Can you think of good time-efficient ways to exercise? I do have a Y membership, and even though it’s only a couple of blocks away, I find my time is eaten up by going there. Also, I have some breathing issues, so I can’t run, really. Any suggestions?

Hey guys! I’m back!

I got of track over the summer. It was just too damn hot to diet. Eh so anyway, on Sept 4th I joined WW, determined to get this damn weight off once and for all. So far I’ve lost 6.6lbs on WW and I’m lovin’ it. My first 10% goal is 22lbs. I’ve set Thanksgiving as my goal date, although I’m secretly hoping to hit it by DopeAWeen. I’ve got a costume idea and it’ll look so much better on a 22lbs lighter fizzy.

Guys, if you don’t see me posting in this thread again kick my ass back into shape. I won’t throw it all away this time, not after seeing results so quickly.

Whatever. You looked too hot for words at the last Dope-A-Ween. You look any hotter this year, I’m gonna writhe around and die out of terminal frustration.

:o (that’s the blushing smiley right?)

You certainly know how to make a girl feel good about herself!

Last night was interesting. The kid and I were running some errands, and I decided to go ahead and get a couple of pairs of jeans that I expected to be too tight - they would be my motivators.

I tried them on when I got home - both pairs fit comfortably - even the non-stretch pair!! So I’ve lost more than 2 pant sizes, considering the ones I started in were too tight. Shedding tonnage was never this easy before! May I just say that I LOVE the South Beach Diet!! <happy dance in smaller jeans>

You guys rock. I was feeling all Scarlett O’Hara when I posted earlier, but no matter…

Ginger, I was turning into a blob without the Timmy’s around. I shudder to think what would have happened if I’d reverted to my old habit of an apple fritter and sour cream glazed for breakfast every day. Mmmm…sour cream glazed.

And yay for all of us who are buying new and fitting into old clothes - Gingy, FCM, fizzestothetop (soon, at any rate)! And next time I’m out in the DC area, I’m gonna have to see what a skinny RT looks like. And what any norinew looks like!

LaurAnge, when I used to have a gym membership, the stationary bikes always had a stand for books on them. Depending on your major (lots of reading required?), you might grab a text, or that day’s review and read it while you bike?
